So, I don't know for sure.
Well, I do know that the number of stories using the #onc2023 tag as of me writing this - there are 900 stories exactly, and the ONC profile has noted they've gotten over a thousand entries submitted this year, which means it's back to being the way it is every year after a drop off last year. There are also 330 stories using #opennovellacontest2023 this year, although only 18 of those aren't tagged with #onc2023.
Why bring this up?
Well, there are only five round winners for each round. Or at least there is if it's like every other year. I think that's what it said, but with over 1,000 entries, that means the top five is fewer than .5% of the entries submitted every year or that the chances of being the top five is less than 1 in 200.
It's why one shouldn't stress to much about getting elliminated and instead have fun during ONC. Particularly since getting ahead means being ready to submit for the next round.
