After the injuries had been taken care of, the family dispersed to do their own things. There was no use in them all waiting for the mysterious turtle yokai to wake up and possibly overwhelm the newcomer. Leo and Donnie had elected to stay in the med bay to monitor the person's condition and wait for them to wake.

They adjusted the bed to elevate the new turtle's head, putting them in a partial sitting position as you would commonly see in a hospital. Leo elevated their feet and wrist with pillows to help relieve swelling as Donnie rearranged the IV poll and vitals monitor into better positions by the bed.

"Soooo, Dontron... Got any guesses on where they came from? I know you got something going on in that big brain of yours." Leo leaned back in the chair he set up next to the bed, crossing his arms behind his head.

"Well, I was looking at their blood sample to rule out some ideas." Donnie answered, doing something Leo couldn't see on a tablet monitor.

"What'd you find out?"

"They definitely aren't a long lost sibling from Draxum's experiments. No Lou Jitsu DNA or sign of modifications. All I'm seeing is normal leatherback sea turtle dna with yokai markers, plus a little human mixed in from some ancestor probably."

"I thought there were no regular turtle yokai... At least none that we have ever seen."

"They are at least not common."

The twins fell back into silence as they each considered the stranger's origins.

A couple minutes later, the brothers were startled by a groan. The grey figure shifted a bit before muttering something unintelligible, which Leo could have sworn was a swear. They just barely opened their eyes, squinting against the light.

"Hey, take it easy. You're safe here." Leo put a hand on their arm.

They jerked away at the touch, but regretted the movement instantly as it jostled their broken wrist. "Ooowww..."

The stranger looked around the room, eyes adjusting. As they made eye contact with the two brothers, Leo noticed a lack of surprise, as if they recognized them somehow.

"Nice to see I'm not dead." They commented, voice dry.

"Here." Donnie passed a glass of water to Leo, who then held it up so the newcomer could reach the straw.

The grey turtle accepted the help, drinking nearly half the cup's contents.

"Thanks."

"How are you feeling?"Leo asked, leaning forward in his seat.

"Alright... " They looked down at their wrapped appendages, taking in the sight of her injuries. "Well, kind of like I've been run over by a truck, but not as bad as I expected."

"That would be thanks to the morphine, but I can up the administration rate if you're in a lot of pain." Donnie moved closer to the bed, ready to adjust the IV.

"Any amount of pain medication is nice... I'm not used to getting meds for injuries." They kept their gaze down, seeming to be embarrassed that they said it.

The brothers shared a look.

"Do you mind if we call in the rest of our family before we ask you more about yourself?" Leo asked. "It's okay if that would be too overwhelming. It just might be easier so you don't have to answer the same questions more than once."

"Yeah, sure, makes sense." They pursed their lips, staring off into space.

Donnie sent a mass text to the others that they were awake and to come back to the med bay. It was only a minute or two before the four turtles, two humans, and rat were congregated around the room.
