The Last Turtle Yokai

Prologue / Context

It had been just over a year since the Kraang invasion and the family's physical wounds had long mended from the ordeal. Mentally, though, they were all still healing.

Donatello's construction bots, which had been working to fix the lair from the Shredder's attack, continued to work through the invasion. Finishing up a short month later, the family was able to move back in as they continued to recover.

Thanks to the super-soldier situation of their creation, the turtles were able to heal up faster than expected. 

With only minor injuries, Donnie was fine with a week of rest. Though, April had to practically force him to sleep, regularly having to prying him away from working to improve devices in the med bay.

Raphael's injuries were mostly psychological as somehow the Kraang assimilation did not leave any marks after removal. He was also physically better with a little rest, but suffered nightmares consistently for months afterwards. 

Mikey had bad burns and the skin up his arms split from opening the portal, which all were able to heal back to normal within three months. 

Leo was by far the worst off. With dozens of broken bones, his broken and bruised body took six months to fully heal. His bones were mended within the first four months but he had to relearn how to walk and fight. With the help of some light physio rehab for the other two months to build his muscle back up, he was back in fighting shape.

Even without super healing like his sons, Splinter was back to normal after a month of time in a back brace to allow his minor spinal injuries to heal. 

Thankfully, Casey Jr and April were spared any bad blows and escaped with nothing more serious than some cuts and bruises. So April was able to return to her college as soon as classes resumed without any issues. 

To help Casey Jr better acclimatize to being in the past and give him opportunities in this new future, the group enrolled him in a GED program at the same college as April. To make lying about his past easier, they told the administration that he was pulled out of school at a young age by doomsday prepper parents and spent the last bunch of years isolated in the wilderness with only family. This meant that Casey could just tweak his real life experiences to be within that context when interacting with regular people. This also allowed him to explain away any issues that could come up with his naivety about everything. 

Thankfully the year had been relatively quiet as far as villains causing trouble in the city, especially while they all healed up. With the final destruction of the Foot Clan -- given their assimilation then defeat with the kraang -- their other adversaries' goals were far less dangerous or earth destroying. 

Hypno and Warren learned their lesson on messing with powerful artifacts and such after being the catalyst for the Kraang invasion. They became more friendly with the turtles, seeming to enjoy domestic life as a pair. Hypno went back to performing magic to make money and Warren started a news podcast, Your News With Warren Stone, to return to the world of news anchor work despite being a worm. April loves helping Warren with the podcast, collaborating on many stories.

The whole family spent a lot of time visiting Todd's puppy sanctuary that year for some much needed animal therapy. It became common for individuals to disappear for the day when overwhelmed, leaving a note that just said At Todd's.
