The family was hanging out in the living room watching Lou Jitsu's final movie, Web of Justice. The turtles were acting out the scenes as they often did to the pure childlike joy and amazement of Casey Jr.
"Your worship of this so called god, Spidaricus, will be your downfall, cultist!" Lou Jitsu yelled onscreen as Raphael mouthed the words.
"The mighty Spidaricus will feast on your bones." The cultist said, Leo mouthing along as he mirrored the screen, pointing at Raph.
The bros faced off just like the fight stances on screen. Each lunged towards the other, but while in mid-air a loud alarm sounded, distracting them so that they crashed into each other. Mikey receded into his shell with a comical pop and Splinter fell backward over his recliner.
Red lights flashed from the ceiling as the alarms blared, illuminating the two turtles sprawled on the floor, limbs entangled.
"Donnie!?" April ask-yelled over the sound.
Donatello was typing into the interface on his forearm as he yelled back, "Got it!"
The alarm stopped and the lights returned to normal.
"What the hell was that?" Raph asked, pushing Leo off of him and standing up.
"That would be the perimeter alarm." Donnie replied.
"The last time we heard that, the Kraang had tracked us down to the subway lair." Splinter commented, giving an exaggerated full body shiver.
"Quick side note: why don't we set that off when we come in?" April asked.
Donnie was silent with a guilty expression on his face.
"It's the 'subcutaneous' trackers, isn't it?" Leo guessed, deadpan, having striked the 'draw-me-like-one-of-your-french-girls' pose where he landed on the floor.
"Nooooooooooo... Hey look, footage of our intruder!"
The screen changed from the paused frame of the movie to a live feed of a sewer leading to the lair. The perspective was from above looking diagonally down the large decommissioned pipe. Stumbling down the centre towards the camera was hunched figure clad in a black cloak.
"That's ominous." Leo commented.
"Uh, is it just me or are they leaving a trail of blood?" Mikey asked, standing right up next to the screen, pointing.
"We have to go see if they need help!" Raph grabbed Leo and Mikey, running towards the door with his brothers tucked under his arms.
"So we are just gonna ignore the fact they look like Death personified coming for us. Great." Donnie commented deadpan, activating his hovercraft shell and following his brothers.
April shared a look with Casey. "Wanna prep the med bay with me? That's a lot of blood if they turn out to be friendly."
"Yeah, that's a good idea." He agreed.
"You do that. I'm going to watch from here." Splinter leaned back in his recliner, popping a handful of popcorn into his mouth.
~!~
"Hey there! Who are you and what are you doing down here?" Raph called down the pipe towards the figure.
The four turtles inched hesitantly forwards, now only a couple yards in front of the person, weapons drawn. Close as they were, they could now see that Mikey was right; the robed figure was dripping blood and had left a trail of it speared behind them from the dragging edge of their cloak. While the cape and hood still hid the person, they could now see that the person was also dragging a large duffle bag with them. Sadly the once Mickey Mouse covered design of the fabric was now speckled with blood as it dripped from their hand holding the straps.
"I -- I'm sorry. I had nowhere else to go." A tired, raspy voice replied from behind the fabric.
A grey hand emerged from under the cloth and slowly raised towards their face. They pulled the hood back to reveal their face. Though bruised and also speared with blood, they could tell it was a yokai, having a similar face shape to the four of them but more feminine. Their grey skin was speckled with dark grey spots and obscured by a mess of long dark brown hair.
Apparently the effort of this movement pushed them just over the edge, as the figure collapsed, eyes rolling into the back of their head.
"Okay abort the defending home mission! Initiate medical emergency protocol!" Leo commanded, lunging forward, just barely catching the person's head before it could smack into the concrete.
Mikey removed the cloak as Leo positioned the person to lay flat and assess injuries.
"No way." Raph breathed out.
"OH ME GOSH! They're a turtle!" Mikey exclaimed.
Sure enough, when the cape was removed, they could see a feminine body sporting a soft black plastron and shell with white speckled vertical ridges.
"According to my observations, I'd say they are a leatherback sea turtle yokai." Donnie flipped his goggles down to take a closer look.
"Guys, we can talk about that later. We need to get her to the med bay. I'm feeling some major injuries here and their pulse is week." Leo said, doing a physical assessment, feeling down each limb. "Donnie, get a read on their blood type. Raph, carefully pick them up. We need to get back ASAP before they bleed out."
"Right!" Raph did as he was instructed, gently scooping the new turtle up off the ground.
He started running back to the lair as Donnie hopped onto his shoulder to analyze the stranger's blood, the other two following behind.
"We're in luck, my turtles! She matches April!" he exclaimed. "And we have a conveniently full supply in the blood bank."
"Good. We're gonna need it." Leo pulled out a sword. "Let's cut this trip short."
With a swing, he opened a portal ahead of them and the four hopped through.
