The more I live this life

The more I learn from it

And I've finally learned

That when people ask how you are

They don't really want an answer.

I must have said

"I'm fine, thanks"

About a dozen times now

And no one seemed to really notice

There's not much

I can't handle

In this world.

It's the aftermath that

Causes me to feel everything.

The getting used to

And adjusting to

Without them here

That gets too much to bear.
