emersyn and matt had been walking together in the afternoon for about an hour. matt wanted to have a picnic with her since she loved picnics.
when they finally got to their destination after walking around aimlessly, they sat down in the middle of the grass patch in the park. they set the picnic up. there were little kids running around everywhere, around them even.
"did mary lou cook or did you cook?" emersyn asks
"i cooked, but mom double checked it so its all good" matt chuckles
"okay" emersyn grabs grapes from the basket matt brought
"okay i brought waffles, chocolate chip pancakes, whipped cream, lemonade, and grapes" matt says
"you brought breakfast food?" emersyn chuckles
"yes, is that okay?" he asks
"yes matt thats fine, i love breakfast food" she smiles "thank you"
"no problem" he smiles back
they both eat and stay at the park for a while. they got there at 1 pm it was now 4 pm. they both lied down on the matt, emersyns head on matts chest as he stroked her hair. it was all very quiet, the little kids already left, there was wind but not too much wind, it was just perfect, just the two of them talking.
"hey em?" matt asks
"yes matt?" emersyn asks
"do you, uhm" he starts "do you want to be my girlfriend?"
there it was, the question emersyn had been dreading.
she stayed silent for some moments before sitting up
"emersyn are you okay?" he sits up
"matt im not ready for a committed relationship" she looks at him
"what? why? we've been going out for a while, we both like eachoth-" he gets cut off
"matt i know, and i really like you. but with my career literally just starting and me having to make an entirely new album right now, and also school, im kind of behind because of the tour, i have to take care of ivory sometimes, also uhm, my mom dying and my da-" emersyn rants
"oh my god emersyn!, that was two years sgo, get over it" matt exclaims
"excuse me?" she asks
"emersyn it was two years ago" he says
"matt youre being so disrespectful right now. do you even know what its like to not have parents? of course you dont because you have a perfect family. my family on the other hand is broken, my dad is harassing me, he wants me to come back to him, my mom is dead, she is six feet under. i am still grieving. just because it happened a long time ago doesnt mean im not upset. youre being a fucking dick!" emersyn rants, tears forming in her eyes
she could not let herself cry in front of matt, not again. not ever.
"im leaving" she says, getting up and walking away
