Happy New Year!

Jay lightly smiles at you, and kisses your hand.

"You're right, (Y/N). Thank you! Can we make a deal, though, my spark?" Jay questions with puppy dog eyes.

"What do you propose, Jay?" You inquire.

"What if I let you go to sleep now, and when it crosses over into the new year, I come wake you up so we can share a kiss!" Jay says excitedly.

You think about it for a moment. You're not usually one that appreciates being woke up, but it would make Jay happy.

"Deal!" You smile, and kiss his cheek.

You head off to bed and instantly fall asleep.

"Hey, (Y/N)." Jay says lightly shaking you.

"Mhmm." You groggily get out.

"Happy New Year!" Jay exclaims.

You smirk, and quickly sit up, kissing him without warning.

"Happy New Year!" You smirk

"My flower, would you please explain the importance of New Years Eve? I do not understand why it is a big deal to others. It is just the beginning of a new year, correct?" Zane asks confused

"That's all it is, Zane. They only make a big deal out of it, because it's one of the only times to have a reasonable excuse to party and get drunk." You sigh

"Well, I will not be partaking in either." Zane states

"Why? Might lose your nose again?" You snicker, causing Zane to blush

"I also do not understand why you must continue making me relive the most embarrassing moment of my life." Zane pouts, cutely

"Because I'm your girlfriend... and it's cute." You smile, kissing him on the nose.

"Hey you two! Better save that kiss for when the clock strikes midnight!" Kai smirks.

"Why must we refrain from kissing until midnight?" Zane questions.

"It's tradition my dear friend!" Kai says putting his arm around Zane's shoulders, "you stay up to kiss the love of your life once it reaches midnight!"

Kai makes kissy noises at Zane, obviously drunk, and you lightly push him away.

"OOO~ someone is jealous!" Kai teases.

"Enough, brother. If I must refrain from kissing my flower until midnight, so be it! I will remain awake to do so." Zane states

"That a boy, Zane!" Kai says giving him a thumbs up, before walking off.

"Was Kai being truthful?" Zane asks once he's out of earshot.

"Not completely. You don't necessarily have to refrain from kissing, but it is tradition to kiss at midnight."

"Why is that tradition?"

"Honestly it's just a superstition. Supposedly, it sets the tone for the rest of the year. Kissing is about strengthening ties you wish to maintain in the future."

Zane smiles, "then remaining awake to kiss you will be worth it."

"10, 9, 8, 7, 6." The ninja start

"5, 4, 3, 2, 1! HAPPY NEW YEAR!!" Kai finishes jumping from the monastery balcony

"Is it still alright if I kiss you, my flower?" Zane asks leaning in

"Of course, Zane." You say, closing the gap and connecting your lips.
