~Ali~

My goodbye to my best friend is tough. She comes over and first questions my multiple hickeys before giving me a hug.

"Was it Ashton?" She asks pathetically. I only rolled my eyes.

I spend the night focusing myself on projects to distract me from the night before. I clean the entire house spotless and double check everything. I blast music in my super long shower so I don't have time to think. Then I comb through the house checking everything, locking it up, and dusting everything.

I'm going to have to dust the place because I don't trust anyone enough to give them keys to the house to check in.

If I hand them over to anyone its party central for 2 straight months. Lord help me if the police got called and alerted my parents. I would either get in trouble for the party or get in trouble for leaving the house unattended to for months.

Whichever they found out first.

But it's a good thing we should get back in time before they get back. After that I fold laundry while I watch TV.

Finally I force myself to get upstairs and try and sleep. After a half an hour of mind screaming so I can't think about Oliver.... I head back down stairs and drug myself up on super sleepers.

---

In the morning I quickly go through everything before I head outside to get in the truck.

Just as I'm about to climb in, Oliver pulls up and into the driveway.

"What are you doing here I said I was going to pick you up!" I exclaim. "I figured if you had a car in your driveway then it would seem less like someone wasn't here for a couple months" Oliver winks.

I scoff and roll my eyes and help Oliver load everything into the truck bed. With his car all locked up we hit the road.

The first hour is silent. But slowly we start to talk and then many normal conversations later we find ourselves in Nevada.

Because it's a desert filled with scorpions and snakes, we agree to get a hotel room tonight. The lady at the front desk asks us with a sly raise of her eyebrow if we want separate beds.

"Yes!" We say at the same time and give each other a shared awkward glance. The lady grunts and hands us a key. We cycle through showers and pick a bed out of the two. And that's our first night on the road.
