Start from the beginning

Not even 10 minutes into the walk Sayuri was already asleep in her mothers arms.

Sarada glanced at her younger sister, her eyes softened..

both she and her mother had always babied Sayuri, they knew that it was wrong to just keep her under the safety of their wings but they couldn't help it, she was just so small and innocent, and tends to get hurt very easily which end up with them constantly keep and eye over her

Sarada and Sakura had already talked about this before, but both of them were still unsure on whether it's a good idea to send Sayuri to the kindergarten.

About 2 years back, when Sayuri was 3 (almost 4) and Sarada was 10, Sarada was spending more time at the academy and training that she wasn't able to come home till afternoon and Sakura's job as head of the medical department in the village was already very hectic as it is, she was worrying about how both her and Sarada were becoming more and more busy, which soon resulted in Sayuri often staying at their neighbors house.

so back then, when Sakura was ranting to Naruto whom she randomly found at a certain Raman shop.

The Hokage himself had recommended Sakura to let Sayuri go to the kindergarten so she can socialize with kids her age and feel less lonely,

well, she thought it was a pretty good idea and registered her name for it.. everything was going nice..

that was until Sayuri had started to act strange and became more and more distant and quite which was very unusual for the enthusiastic little girl.

That's when they found out that she's being bullied and discriminated by the teachers.

Sarada sighed, remembering the heartbreaking memory that she'd been trying so hard to shut,

⚠️

She remembers Sayuri clinging onto her waist and crying her heart out, she'd never seem her look genuinely so upset, She remembered look at their mother for help, unsure what to do or what to say to comfort her.

Sakura was freaking out, her hands practically trembling from all the stress, Sayuri was sobbing and wheezing on her own tears barely catching her breath,

In the end Sakura managed to get a hold of herself and calmed Sayuri down, asking her what happened.

And then, everything came out,

from Sayuri talking less during dinner , to

Sayuri always apologizing franticly for making even the smallest mistake.

apparently, the teachers had beat her up until there were red marks all over her arms and legs, and even threw whatever they could reach at her just because they were 'mad'  they had also punished any other child who tried to stand up for Sayuri or tried to befriend her.

And the worst of all, that Sayuri had only told Sarada about,

They had made sure that all of the small games and activities involved the topic 'father' knowing that she barely knows anything about her own,

They had enjoyed seeing the hurtful expression crawl on her face and the sad tears that she holds back in her eyes when they loudly announced her to bring her father.

They had screamed at her face as she hung her head low in shame, trying to hide the tears as much as she could.

but back then she was barely 4 years old, there's only so much she could do.

⚠️

(powerful clan or whatever, a 4 year old is still a 4 year old. uchihas don't always have to be 'rough and powerful and emo' )

of course they were all now fired and Sakura made sure they would never get the job again.

from then on, Sakura stopped Sayuri from going to kindergarten and took her with her to the hospital where she works, she taught her basic things during her free time. Sure, it was boring for a kid to be at a hospital all the time but at least she got to spend time with her mother.

It had been a years since all of that happened,

Naruto deeply apologize when he heard what happened, he patted Sayuri on the head and gave her some chocolates bars and praised for being so brave and dealing with all this for almost a year, and made sure that the teachers employed to work there were well trained and had a thorough background check.

Sakura tightened her grip on Sayuri as they came closer and closer to the familiar building,

she gently woke her up and helped her get back on her feet, then she kneeled on the ground and flattened the overalls dress before making sure that she had her lunch, the straps on her backpack weren't too tight or too loose, and her water bottle is filled to the top, and-

"Mama."

Sarada looked at her mother, her lips pressed in a tight smile,

'your doing it again..'

Sakura sighed before turning back to Sayuri,

"If something happens you must  tell us. ok?"

"mhm."

"Be brave, ok?"

"mhm."

"If they say something about your eyes, they're just jealous. ok?"

"mhm."

Before Sakura could continue further Sarada cut her off by stepping in between them,

She gave her little sister an encouraging smile,

"Alright, get going! you're gonna be late."

Sayuri gave a small nervous smile,

"mhm."

"Good luck, Sayuri! you'll do just fine! don't worry! ok?" Sakura said before kissing her forehead,

"okie mama! I'll make a bunch of friends!"

"That's my girl!"

"Alright now, off you go!"

"BYE!" Squeaked the little girl before awkwardly walking into the building.

a/n: so ik the most rational question would be that

'why the hell didn't sakura and sarada notice the bruises she had on her arms-'

so basically,

Lets just say Sayuri is good at hiding things if she really gave it a try,

they barely managed to notice her change of behaviour, she'd managed to hide if so well until she couldn't take it anymore. thats why Sakura demanded that she tell her if something happens
