I once lived and shuttled between two spheres. The past and the future. I had so many 'what-ifs' that they kept me blinded to the miracle of/in each day. Constantly filled with regrets of the past, I worried about the future, and thus lost track of the present.

SUDDENLY, LIFE STOPPED. A LOVED ONE DIED.

Young and bubbly, full of dreams and goals, her desires were a constant push to her ever energetic muscles. But she died, and so did everything with her. Or not everything...

SHE LEFT AN ALARM. SHE WAS MY WAKE-UP CALL.

Like why waste the present thinking about the past? Why waste the now worrying over the future? I suddenly realized I could die the next minute. I didn't want to die with regrets.

I TOOK A SHARP TURN ON THIS JOURNEY.

Now, everyday sees me waking up with peace and gratefulness. I once thought it impossible for a man to say, "No worries", and truly mean it. But now, I boldly say, "No worries", and really mean it.

I've accepted my mortality (the fact that I must of certainty die one day, however close or far it be/seem). I take each day as it comes, grateful for a new dawn of boundless possibilities.

The past? Yeah... Mistakes made, successes achieved, lessons learnt. NEXT! No time to waste time 'wishing' they were different. It can't be changed. A fact I've also accepted. I live more in the present now.

This doesn't stop me from making plans. I still do, but this time, it's without the attendant anxiety of 'what-ifs'.

LIFE WAS NEVER A STRAIGHT LINE.

I accepted that fact and the certainty that one isn't certain of future happenings. This enriches my present. I live in full consciousness of the 'now' and appreciate life more.

The joy, inner peace, satisfaction, contentment and general well being this brings cannot be exchanged for any thing else in this life. It's a priceless gift.

YOU DON'T WANT DEATH TO BE A WAKE-UP CALL, DO YOU?

A little time off to think and reflect should be enough for a wake-up call. I've, however, also learnt in this journey that people experience their wake-up calls uniquely and at their own time.

It's fine and okay. I hope we all get to wake, no matter how long it takes. There's this whole, enhanced, beautiful and peaceful life waiting for us to claim.

IT'S OURS TO CLAIM. IT'S OURS TO LIVE.

Still your COMPANION in life's sojourn.
