I walk into the house, my kids sitting on the couch with Amelia.

"Hey dear," Amelia smiles, walking over to me. She quickly kisses me.

        I kiss back, "hello darling."

"Hey guys," I say, looking over at Avery and Elliott sprawled out.

        "Hey dad," Avery shouts.

"Hi!" Elliott shouts, before shoving Avery over. "Moveee!"

"I'm not even in your way!" she hisses.

"Your leg is touching mine and it's getting on my nerves," he mumbles.

Avery kicks her leg onto his lap, "get used to it."

"Leave each other alone," Amelia mumbles looking over at them, shaking her head and smiling.

Avery is now 12 and Elliott is officially sixteen. They fight more than anything but I wouldn't trade it for the world. They are my entire world.

Elliott isn't technically mine, but I've lived with him for his entire life so he's practically mine.

"Yeah, leave me alone," Elliott mumbles, pulling his knees up to his chest.

"I heard you talked to Alec today," Avery smirks.

"How do you know about Alec and me?"

"Come on. Every time he looks at you, your eyes twinkle," She explains. "And I read your diary."

         "Avery!"

          "What?" she laughs.

         "Alec DaSavilla?" I ask.

"Yes, that one," Avery smiles, hugging a pillow.

"Aww! My little guy's in love!" Amelia smiles.

"Stop!" Elliott says, covering his red face.

         "It's exciting!" I say.

"Okay, I'm leaving. Avery, stay out," Elliott says, getting up from the couch and walking to their bedroom. We've been in the process of transferring them to separate rooms but preparation for hopefully our future son, Myles', room has taken up a lot of our time. Plus, Avery can't decide on a color.

I look over at Amelia. "We already knew."

         She nods. "Definitely."

After seeing how Elliott is when Alec is over, it's pretty obvious he likes him. That's not one-sided either.

Suddenly, my phone rings. I pull it out of my pocket to see Zeke calling. "Hey!"

"I'm freaking out!" Zeke says quickly. The camera is blurry as he paces across his living room.

        "What's up?"

"Morris asked if I wanted to hang out on Saturday!"

       "Really?" I ask, excited.

"Yes, really! Alone! I'm seeing Morris in three days. What do I wear? We're going to the last restaurant we went to before he was deployed," he rants. "I don't know what to do. My heart is pounding in my throat."

"This is exciting! Why are you so panicked?"

"I haven't seen him in four years!" Zeke says. "And out of all people, he wants to hang out with me."

      "You guys have a history."

"One that left me destroyed for fourteen years. I'm going to have to start back over from base one."

      "Then don't go."

       He quickly replies, "No!"

He takes a breath, "I really really want to see him again. I'm just worried I'll fall again."

"Well, it sounds pretty casual. Just go catch up. Have fun but don't get your hopes up. How long is he back for?"

      "Two weeks as of tomorrow."

I nod. "Well, then I would go and have fun. Talk but don't get too involved. Keep it casual."

He nods. "I can do that, I think. Probably."

"Uncle Zeke's in love!" Avery shouts from the couch.

     Zeke's face goes red.

      I laugh. She's not wrong.

"Casual. Okay. Yeah," Zeke mutters to himself.

      "Are you alright?" I ask.

He nods. "Yeah, I've got this."

      I nod.

"Okay, I've got to go. I told ma I'd come over for dinner in 25 minutes," Zeke says.

After Pauline being our technically adoptive mom for nearly 16 years, we've just gotten used to calling her ma now. As for her new lover, Coach McCaulley, I cannot get myself to call him dad. I don't want to hear the word "son" coming out of his mouth once. No thanks. Love him as a person but no.

     "Okay. Bye Z."

"Bye Coco. Thank you," he says.

      "No problem," I nod.

He hangs up the phone and I can't help but feel excited. I've probably been waiting for this moment more than Zeke has.
