"Yes!" I can't believe he did that. I mean, yes, I had a pretty good hint that it'd happen eventually. And now, I've got a date for Thursday! "Of course."

"Great, see you at bowling!" Ryan says and we hang up. Before I put my phone away, I send a text to Kelsey, letting her know I'm on my way over, and I need to tell her something. And then, I'm off.

The mindless chatter of a talkshow in the background caught my attention with it's urgent tone. "Alright, to all the folks living in the Chicago suburbs, listen here. A nine old boy was taken from an entertainment complex on the south side of Chicago four days ago. His name is Aaron and he was said to be very trusting, so if you see him, or any suspisious characters, contact the police. And please, watch your children." And they went on to a description of the little boy. I hit the radio, making it turn off.

That's one of the things I hate here; the crime that always surrounds us. I guess everybody is surrounded by it, but they don't live in Chicago, where the first serial killer took over one hundred different peoples lives.

After a few minutes of dead silence because I couldn't handle the radio; I park in Kelsey's driveway. Her house is like mine, but it feels bigger because only three people live there, not four. I walk up the little rock path and she's waiting at the door, ready to fling it open and let fly. "Did he finally do it? Please tell me he did it!"

She knows me way too well, so I decide to play around. "No... not yet."

Her face stays in it's happy smile. "You lying biff! He called me, because deep down he's madly in love with me. He just feels bad for you." A giggle erupts from her, even though her face is still set.

"Oh you lying son of a gun! Shut up, because I'm pretty sure he didn't ask you out."

She makes another face, "Oh girl! Don't you back sass me, or I will rip your ears out of your head and put them in your back pockets so you can hear me kicking your ass!" She pretends to slam my head into the door, but gives me a quick hug and lets me in. We walk into the dining room, where a standoff is going on.

"Daniel, be rational. If you think that you can just up and leave this family again for the sake of your troop, you can go to hell!" The low voice of Mrs. Caldrino; Kelsey's Mom, bellowed.

"Aubry, I'm rational. But I'm thinking about the country as a whole, not myself. God, when did you become so... so naive?" Mr. Caldrino countered.

Kelsey coughed loudly. "Mom and Dad, Jessie's here."

Their curious eyes slide up to me, and a smile breaks out on both faces. "Jessie! I've missed you, little girl!" Her dad is the first to speak after the awkward moment, and gives me a bear hug. "How've you been?"

"I've been great! Are you happy to be back?" I say but realize a moment too late that I've said the wrong thing. The entire mood of the rom switches yet again, and Mrs. Caldrino mutters an excuse to leave, and slams the door on her way out. "I'm... sorry." I hammer out.

A sad smile plays on Mr.Caldrino's lips, "Don't be, it isn't your fault. Have fun girls, and Kelsey, be home by eleven," He starts to exit, but before he's gone he yells. "Aubry!"

Kelsey sighs heavily. "Sorry about that... I don't know what's wrong with them lately." She waves her hand dismissively, and I can sense she's about to cry. I'll let her do that in peace, so I make my way up to her room. We've got about twenty five minutes left until we have to leave, most of will be spent on Kelsey complaining about her parents. I understand it's bad, but I think that everybody should lie by a saying my Uncle told me; 'If you focus on the bad, the good will always pass you by.' It's probably ripped off from a book, but it's all the same helpful and good.
