Who are considered "persons" under the law?

Can these laws/views regarding 'personhood-ness' be changed? If so, how?

Do prisoners, criminals, and outsiders have rights and protections? Are they persons, or do they lose that status?

Can people own / control other people?

Is there institutionalized slavery? Is it well-known and visible, or underground and black-market? Do people approve or deride it?

Are a specific group of people considered non-persons under the law / by tradition / by taboo?

What does the law have to say about this versus what tradition has to say about slavery / non-persons?

Can people become un-owned by another? By what method? Is it different in cases of slavery and legal bindings, such as parting ways as business partners, or in a divorce?

Can children become emancipated? By what method?
