J.M. Frey is an author, fanthropologist and professional smartypants. She's appeared in podcasts, documentaries, and on television to discuss all things geeky through the lens of academia, and specializes in fandom studies and meta-fiction. She loves tea, scarves, and stories filled with dragons, vampires, and optimistic futures.
Her debut novel TRIPTYCH was nominated for two Lambda Literary Awards, won the San Francisco Book Festival award for SF/F, was nominated for a 2011 CBC Bookie, was named one of The Advocate's Best Overlooked Books of 2011, and garnered both a starred review and a place among the Best Books of 2011 from Publishers Weekly. She was the recipient of a Toronto Arts Council Grant in 2018, and is currently working diligently to complete the granted project.

She is currently serializing her first Wattpad-exclusive novel "A Woman of the Sea", a historical romance about an out-of-time bisexual student and the famous lady writer she ends up falling for.
