Doctor Malcolm Betrueger enters the testing chambers of the UAC teleporters. He sits next to his colleague, Issac Carmack, and passes him a coffee, as a test subject enters the teleporter. On the radio, the Deimos Base confirms that although the subject came through, was mentally insane from the trip.
Malcolm: "*Sigh* Another failure. Get the next subject ready. The directors are gonna have my ass for this."
Issac: "Don't worry Malcolm. We're getting more data with every subject who goes through. We'll finish eventually."
Deimos Scientist: "Uhhh, Phoebus Base, do you copy?"
Issac: "We read you loud and clear. Is everything alright?"
Deimos Scientist: "Not sure. Did you send another subject through yet?"
Issac: "No....why?"
Deimos Scientist: "The portal is reacting as if somethings......coming..........dear Go-"
The transmission suddenly cuts out, confusing the Phoebus Scientists. As Issac attempts to regain connection to Deimos, Malcolm notices their portals reacting as well. He cautiously walks next to the door, fearing what may come through. Suddenly, a fireball emerges, and hits a UAC Scientist, killing him, as large humanoid creatures emerge from the portal, causing Malcolm to run out the room.

Issac attempts to follow, only to be grabbed by the creatures, as they drag him through the portal. Malcolm runs down the corridors, reaching a bunker. A female scientist attempts to enter the room, only for Malcolm to begin closing the doors.
Scientist: "DOCTOR BETRUEGER!!"
She sticks her arm out attempting to get through, only for it to be caught in the door and severed by the elbow. As Malcolm listens to her screams on the other side, her screams are quickly cut off. Malcolm finds a security shotgun, and aims at the doors, as the creatures break through. Malcolm pulls the trigger, only to quickly realize he didn't load any shells into the gun.
