Unexpected Inheritance [REWRITE]

Chapter Five: Charlie

"I guess we should start with what are we going to do? Mum apparently is still alive- and Dad- well yeah-" Harry says finally breaking the silence that had filled the room.

"I've known for a few years, and I've been trying my best to find Mum in between my work with dragons. But- I think Dumbledore wiped his memory and had him restart his life somewhere as a muggle. That's the only way I can think." Charlie says.

"Fuck, okay, well at least you've been able to get started on that-" Fred said.

"Yeah you got to figure out the easy part, and we're left with the hard part." George huffed.

"Oh ha ha, it wasn't that easy you idiots." Charlie huffed giving the twins a half hearted glare.

"Well Dad's probably gonna be the easier one then." Harry says amused.

"Oh yeah, haven't you like faced him? Back in your first and second year." Fred says, Harry giving him a weird look.

"Ron's a blabber mouth." George explains.

"Ah- That explains it." Harry rolls his eyes.

"Wait- what?! Harry!" Charlie said worriedly.

"Yeah, back in my first year he decided to stick himself to the back of one of our teachers' heads, and in my second year it was one of his Horcruxes, almost killing Ginny. Kind of wish that I had let it..." Harry said the last part trailing off with a scowl on his face.

"Wait- did you keep the horcruxes vessel?" Charlie quickly remembered something that Bill had told him about the subject.

"Ah yeah I should still have it, but I kind of stabbed it with a basilisk fang." Harry said, confused.

"Okay good. We can still use it. There should still be traces of the soul on the object no matter if you destroyed it, it's only if you used fiend fire that we wouldn't be able to use it. But with those remaining traces, we can bring the entirety of that soul piece back. We'll just need a new vessel." Charlie explained.

"Wait so, there's still a possibility of giving Dad back his whole soul?" Harry asked.

"Yep, and it's unlikely that Dumbledore knows about this, since it's typically something only curse breakers are made aware of so that they can finish the whole job. It's only luck that Bill told me." Charlie hums.

"And after that we just need to find the rest of his Horcruxes then." Fred realises.

"Yep, but we can also trust Bill, I made sure he was clean." Charlie adds.

"So can we contact him for help on this?" George asks.

"I can send him an owl about this, I kept in contact with him after I left, he knows about what Molly has been doing and doesn't really agree." Charlie says.

"That's good, it's probably better if we get the help of an actual curse breaker with this. Before we head off to Hogwarts remind me to give you the Diary so you and Bill can deal with that." Harry says

Charlie nods a smile on his face. The twins were currently fighting over a specific piece of cake. To the point where Harry just picked it up and had it himself. Both twins giving Harry betrayed looks. Charlie couldn't help but snort into his drink at the interaction.

Cornelius had grown frustrated over the holidays, just like any other school holidays, parents had written to the Ministry trying to have their children resorted at Hogwarts because of whatever reason. However, this holiday had been even worse than normal, he had been swamped with letters from parents.

"Just to get them off my back." He huffs to himself.

With that he jotted down a letter for Albus and the board, in hopes to work something out to appease the parents. He handed it off to his assistant and with that all he had to do was wait for a reply.

And it didn't take all that long either, the board got back to him almost instantly, agreeing that something should be done considering the extent of the letters that both the ministry and the board had apparently received on the matter. Albus however, took a good week to reply, and then tried to deny the thousands of letters. This had obviously set off a red flag with the board and even Fudge couldn't deny that it was a bit suspicious of Dumbledore to do so.

Both Fudge and the board agreed that it would happen, even with the triwizard tournament coming this year, and while Dumbledore tried to fight against it. Eventually he had been outnumbered. The teachers had also agreed that this would be good for the students, as a way to fight against the inner house bullying and rivalry.

So, letters informing all the families who have students attending Hogwarts were sent out. As to inform them prior that a mass resorting of students would occur. Three of these letters are heading straight for the Potter Estate.
