The Opening Act (A Splatoon Script)

Part 5 - Only the Start

Emerald and Rosie: *snicker* *snicker* (The sun is rising.)

Rosie: Are ya gettin' this?

Emerald: Yep! (Echo and Juliuz are sleeping sitting up, still on the couch from the night before. Echo is sleeping with her head on Juliuz's shoulder, and Juliuz has his head on top of her's.)

Emerald: Oh! They're waking up!

Juliuz: Huh? (Echo and Juliuz wake up.)

(They both appear surprised.)

Emerald: Smile!

Phone: <==== Storage filled with photos (The arrow points to Emerald's phone. Emerald has a wide and mischievous grin as she snaps photos of them, and Rosie also is smiling, but less mischievous.)

Juliuz: EMERALD! (Both his and Echo's faces go red with embarrassment, but Juliuz gets up.)

Emerald: You and your new girlfriend look really cute together, Juliuz! Your team would LOVE to see these photos!

Juliuz: Echo's not my girlfriend! We're not dating!

Emerald: I have evidence against that! (Juliuz chases Emerald. She runs away guiltily.)

Juliuz: Give me that!

Emerald: You'll never catch me alive! Ha-hahaa! (Echo sits back and smiles. Rosie stands at the side.)

Rosie: Are you and Juliuz a couple? Emerald says you are!

Echo: Heh, no, Rosie. We're not dating. Emerald's just messing with us. (They talk.)

Emerald: Hey, Echo! I'm not messing with you! I actually think my brother may LIKE you! The night before you got here, he said that you were cute! Or did he say hot? (Emerald hangs from her brother's arm as he still tries to get the phone. Juliuz turns bright red.)

Echo: Uhhh, um, oh- really?

Juliuz: No! Emerald, you know I didn't say that! You're making that part up! [muttered] Though, you may be right, she is pretty hot. (Now Echo turns bright red.)

Echo: Nice try, Juliuz. I think she may have exposed your true feelings. (Echo gets up, and Juliuz has a comically panicked face.)

Juliuz: I will neither confirm nor deny such a thing. (Juliuz crosses his arms, trying to hide a smile. Echo is beside him, laughing.)

Later...

Juliuz: I'm... really sorry about this morning. Emerald, she-

Echo: It's perfectly fine! It was kinda cute, actually. (They walk throughout the square at night.)

Juliuz: I would call it embarrassing, but okay. We can go with cute. (They walk to Dax and Blair.)

Blair: I can't believe they're making Splatfest last longer! This is awesome!

Dax: It's cuz of the craziness that went down.

Blair: True. I guess they HAD to make it longer since we weren't able to have our second day of it! But I'm just glad that the Great Zapfish is back. Where do you think it-

Juliuz: Hey Blair! Dax! (They get interrupted as Juliuz and Echo approach.)

Dax: Hey, man.

Blair: JZ! We haven't heard from you ever since the night of the attack! Where've you- (They turn.)

Blair: Been? (She stops when she sees Juliuz and Echo.)

Blair: JZ? Wha-what the heck?!

Dax: You okay, bro? (Dax is confused and Blair is surprised.)
