The Opening Act (A Splatoon Script)

Part 3 - Ugly Truths

Marie: No more trying to toughen you guys up.

Callie: Good! (She gives Marie a hug.)

(A few octo-snipers stay on walkways of Nariko's spacecraft. Octolings patrol, as well.)

(Coral, in her squid form, peeks out of a hall as two octolings pass her.)

Coral: [Thought] Oh! The labs are right up there! I bet that's where the lady's keeping everyone! (Coral looks up at a sign next to a ladder that says where the labs are.)

(She climbs a ladder near her.)

(She reaches an upper level. An elite octoling is nearby.)

(The elite octoling guarding a door notices Coral. Both of them are surprised.)

(The elite octoling nabs the back of Coral's shirt.)

Coral: Oh, uh- hi! (The elite octoling picks Coral up by the back of her shirt and nudges her gun at Coral.)

Coral: You wouldn't happen to secretly be a good guy, would you? I think I need to get in that room you're guarding, and I would like to get out of this mess without causing any messes. (Coral awkwardly smiles.)

Coral: No? Okay. (The elite octoling remains silent.)

(Coral kicks herself free from the guard's grip.)

Coral: Take this! (Shot of Coral as she pulls out her inkbrush.)

Elite octoling: ? (Coral waves her inkbrush all over the elite octoling.)

(The elite octoling shoots at Coral, but her face is covered in ink.)

Coral: Wow, that was a really bad shot! What, do you have ink in your eyes or something? (Coral grins.)

Sound effect: WHUMP! (Coral knocks the elite octoling upside the head with the hard end of her brush.)

(The elite octoling falls unconscious.)

Coral: Whew, got her! And she has a pass to the room! (A pass pokes out of the octoling's pocket. Coral is happy and relieved.)

(She nabs the pass.)

(She slides the pass in a scanner, and it lights up green with an unlocked lock sign.)

Coral: Boo-yah! (She throws her fists in the air triumphantly as the door slides open.)

Sound effect: Slap!

Coral: [thought] I did NOT mean for that to be so loud! (She clamps a hand over her mouth.)

Coral: [thought] Let's just finish this and get out of here. (She runs in the labs.)

(Coral stands in a dark hall of large tubes full of green sludge. The door closes behind her. Silhouettes of octolings and Octarians can be seen in the tubes.)

Coral: Doctor Nariko, I know you're an evil scientist and all, but at least make this less creepy! (She walks down the hall, looking up at some of Nariko's tests.)

Coral: Ah! (She spots Agents 3, 4, and 8. They're at the end of the hall, and the tubes they're in aren't filled with the green sludge.)

Coral: Hey! You guys! (Agents 3, 4, and 8 notice Coral.)

Coral: I'm gonna get you guys outta here, don't worry! (Coral starts messing with a panel at Agent 3's tube.)

Coral: But where's the fourth one? I saw another inkling in here. Unlike you guys, he actually speaks. So, uh, if you guys can talk, you should tell me where he is. We should save him, too. (Agent 3 looks past Coral with alarm.)
