Juliuz: None of this would've happened if I hadn't shoved you off earlier. And I guess I should've realized that it wouldn't have been right for you to kill those octolings. It never really sank in that some octolings are innocent until you came for me. I just... didn't want to believe it. (He still hides his face.)
Juliuz: And then the way I treated you today and last night, but especially tonight, it was pretty wrong. I should've never doubted that you're really wanting to help. (He speaks)
Juliuz: And with what I said earlier, I wish I just could take it all back. I didn't mean it. I was just so... frustrated and mad at the time. I don't hate you, Echo. I'm glad you came to help me. (He's embarassed.)
Juliuz: Can you forgive me? For... I guess everything? (He slightly peeks at her.)
(Echo slightly looks down.)
Echo: Of course. Everything has been forgiven. (She looks back up with a smile.)
Juliuz: Really? You mean it? Well, thanks. (He raises his head higher.)
Echo: Hey, are you gonna be okay?
Juliuz: I think so. Most of the pain is gone now.
Echo: That's good. But I had meant, how are you feeling about this? You seem distressed. Is everything okay? (They talk. Juliuz seems a bit better.)
Juliuz: Oh, well... I don't know. I'm not sure how my family will react to seeing me like this. (He looks nervous about this.)
Echo: Won't they understand if you explain things to them?
Juliuz: I hope so, but I'm not sure. There's... a reason I've always hated octolings, and a lot of my family feels the same way I do because of the same reason. (He shifts his position, a bit nervous.)
Juliuz: I didn't grow up in Inkopolis. I grew up in a county a few hours away from here called Coconut County.
Echo: That sounds cute!
Juliuz: It wasn't really. (They talk.)
Juliuz: In my hometown, inklings and octolings lived together. But, the relations weren't friendly. Everyone held grudges against the other species for some reason. Even if there wasn't a real reason, people would still use The Great Turf War as an excuse to fight the other species. (Juliuz looks up.)
Juliuz: It seems like every other day, there would be a mob or a gang from one species attacking someone from the other. Usually, they ended tragically. (He thinks about some of the mob fights he saw as a child.)
Juliuz: Now, my parents had never gotten involved in all the violence. They hated it, but they were both too stubborn to leave their hometown. They tried to shelter me as much as they could and keep out of the fights themselves, but... nothing lasts forever. (He thinks back to when he was little. He's with his mom and dad, and his mom is pregnant.)
Juliuz: When I was nine, my little sister, Emerald, was born. She's fine now, but back then, my parents weren't sure that she would live long. She got pretty sick right after she was born. There weren't any good doctors around my hometown, so we couldn't do much about her health. (Young Juliuz holds his baby sister. He has a worried expression as he looks back at his parents, who are also worried.)
Juliuz: My dad heard of a way that we could help Emerald get better, but it was a medicine that only the octolings had on the other side of town. My dad, determined to help Emerald live, decided that he'd try to steal it. (His dad pulls on a coat and leaves. Juliuz watches curiously.)
Juliuz: I didn't know any better at the time, so I went with him. He was hesitant, but he let me come. (Juliuz walks with his dad.)
Juliuz: At first, everything was going fine. We worked together to sneak around where lots of octoling gangs hung out, and we stole the medicine that Emerald needed. But then, things went downhill. (Juliuz and his dad grab some of the medicine needed.)
