Part 3 - Ugly Truths

Juliuz: You may act like one of us, but you're not! You're no hero! How could you even think that you could ever become one? I can't believe that I was starting to think that I could trust you!

Callie: Juliuz... (Juliuz yells in Echo's face, scaring her. Callie starts to approach, but he ignores her.)

Juliuz: Let me make this clearer for you, Octarian.--- I hate octolings, and I... hate... you! (He yells in her face.)

Callie: Juliuz! That... is... ENOUGH! (She steps in between them and firmly scolds Juliuz.)

(Juliuz starts to turn away.)

Echo: Ju-

Juliuz: Leave me alone. (He storms off, shoving on his hoodie.)

Sound effect: SLAM! (Everyone winces as he slams the door to the lab shut.)

Coral: Well, he really seems like-

Brooke: A jerk? Yeah.

(Echo watches the door, sad. Behind her, the sisters quietly talk to each other. Coral cringes at what happened.)

Callie: Echo, I'm sorry about this. I'm... I'm sure he didn't really mean all of that. (Callie gives Echo a hug.)

Marie: He meant it, all right. Hold on, I'll go knock some sense into him.

Echo: No, wait. (Marie starts to leave and cracks her knuckles, but Echo goes ahead.)

Echo: Maybe we SHOULD leave him alone for a bit. Once we get back on the ground, maybe then we can do something about this. (She glances at the door.)

Marie: That shouldn't take too long. This Doctor that Coral ran into is nowhere, and Agents 3, 4, and 8 are gone. Most of the Octarian soldiers are gone, too. The rest are knocked out. We can get this thing landed in just a few minutes. (She speaks.)

(Everyone is silent for a moment. Echo looks down. Callie has her hand on Echo's shoulder.)

Echo: When we get down there- let me talk to him.

Callie: What? No! He's out of his mind right now!

Echo: I know. (They talk.)

Echo: But I have a feeling that he's hiding something from us, and I think I need to be the one to help. (She speaks.)

Callie: Well, if you think so, then I won't stop you. Just be careful. And good luck!

Echo: Thanks. (They talk.)

Later...

(Juliuz sits alone at the edge of a cliff overlooking an ocean. It's still nighttime. It's a bit windy. Juliuz has his hoodie on, but doesn't have the hood on his head.)

(Juliuz fidgets part of his hair as if to see if he's still an octoling.)

Juliuz: *sigh* (He closes his eyes and lets go of it.)

(Echo starts to approach.)

Echo: Juliuz?

Juliuz: Don't- (Echo begins to approach. Juliuz looks in the opposite direction.)

Juliuz: [softly] Don't look at me. (He pulls his hood over his head and faces downwards, completely hiding his face.)

(Echo sits by Juliuz.)

Echo: I just wanted to say that... I'm sorry I let them take you away. And I'm sorry for what happened to you. (She sighs.)

Juliuz: No, I should be the one to apologize. (Echo is surprised.)
