The Opening Act (A Splatoon Script)

Part 1 - The Beginning

(The ship starts to shift.)

Nariko: And... begin extraction. Just turn on some epic battle music, and this would be PERFECT. (Nariko presses a button inside the ship.)

Echo: Honestly, guys, if I don't want to show you my face, I don't have to, right? (Shift back to the team. Echo backs away, the others are looking suspiciously at Echo; Juliuz especially. The wind is starting to pick up.)

Echo: Guh! Where's this wind coming from? (A sudden burst of wind nearly knocks Echo over.)

(Dax looks up.)

Dax: Up there! (He points toward the sky, and the team turns to look up.)

(The spacecraft has now come into the light.)

(Some cables are shot from the spacecraft.)

(The cables latch onto the Great Zapfish, which is clinging onto Deca Tower.)

Echo: That's an... Octarian spacecraft!

Juliuz: Huh? (She thinks out loud and Juliuz glances at her, confused.)

(Juliuz glances suspiciously at Echo.)

(Echo looks up to the sky in surprise.)

(Juliuz grabs the back of Echo's shirt.)

Echo: Agh! (Echo is knocked over and her helmet falls off.)

(Juliuz looks a little disgusted as he sees Echo's face.)

Echo: sorry... (Echo's face turns red and she looks away.)

Juliuz: So, you really are an octoling. Did you come to take over the city?

Echo: No.

Juliuz: To hurt us?

Echo: No!

Juliuz: To KILL us?

Echo: NO! Why would I- (Echo sits up and backs away as Juliuz is towering over her, really angry.)

Juliuz: I can't believe you! (Juliuz grabs onto Echo's wrist.)

Echo: W-wait! If that really is an Octarian spacecraft, it's not safe to go out there! We should-

Juliuz: I'm not listening to anything you say, Octarian. (Juliuz pulls Echo out into the open.)

Echo: Wait, please! I'm not like them! I'm not- (Echo tries to pull away.)

Echo: Uagh! (A cable is shot out and sticks to the road, almost hitting her.)

(Multiple octoling soldiers slide down cables shot out from the spacecraft.)

Juliuz: Okay, Octarian, what are all of you wanting with us? (Juliuz lets go of Echo.)

Echo: I don't know! I'm not one of them! (Echo is panicked as she looks around at all the enemies.)

Juliuz: Well, you better start talking, or you're going to regret it! (Juliuz leans close to Echo.)

(Echo glances to the side.)

(An octoling soldier aims her gun towards Echo and Juliuz.)

(Echo runs as the gun fires, narrowly avoiding getting shot.)

Juliuz: H-hey! Don't run off like a coward! (Juliuz chases after Echo.)

(Echo runs into the alley where Grizzco and the portal to Octo Canyon is as battles are going on.)

Echo: This was a mistake, this was a very very VERY big mistake. Why did I think that it was a good idea to come here? (Echo hides in the alley.)

Echo: Huh? (Three people run by.)
