The Opening Act (A Splatoon Script)

Part 1 - The Beginning

Echo: So... which team are we going up against first? (Echo and the team head to the lobby.)

Juliuz: For the first match, we're up against Team Octorinas of Time.

Blair: Hiss~ss!

Echo: [Thought] Is that a pun? (The whole team is in the lobby, Juliuz is holding out a schedule. Blair is in the pack with a war face on.)

Echo: Who's Team Octorinas of Time? What's the big deal about them?

Dax: They're our rival team.

Juliuz: It's a bit more than that.

Echo: Huh? (Echo's confused as Dax explains it to her.)

Juliuz: But there's no time to explain! We'll tell you later! C'mon, Newbie Woomy! The match is starting!

Echo: Uagh! (Juliuz grabs Echo's shirt and pulls her along. She's startled.)

(Team HydrofluroINK Acid pops out of the spawn point.)

Echo: [Thought] Wow, this place is a lot bigger than I thought it would be! (She looks out at the map)

Echo: [Thought] I've totally got this. It's just a friendly game! It'll be easy and loads of fun! (She looks up confidently with her team.)

Announcer: READY... (They ready their weapons.)

Announcer: GO! (The whole team rushes from the spawn point, shooting ink.)

Juliuz: Blair, you take the eastern side of the stage! Dax, you take the west! Cover as much ground as you can!

Blair: On it, Captain! (Juliuz gives orders. They nod.)

Juliuz: Echo, come with me. We'll keep the other side from getting into our territory. I can show you the ropes from there.

Echo: Yes, sir! (Juliuz and Echo rush forward.)

Juliuz: Sir?

Echo: Yeah, Blair and Dax called you "Captain," so I thought that-

Juliuz: Nah, you don't have to call me "sir". It's just a nickname. (They head to the middle of the map.)

Juliuz: Just call me JZ. Or "Captain" if you want. That's what my friends call me! (Juliuz is humored.)

Echo: Ack! (A sudden sniper shoots ink at a wall between Echo and Juliuz.)

Juliuz: There's a sniper to the northwest! Octo brusher to the northeast! Newbie Woomy, you take down the sniper! We'll meet in the middle! (Juliuz points out two octolings in the shadows. A sniper is on higher ground.)

(Echo and Juliuz split up.)

Echo: [Thought] Okay, I don't think he saw me yet. Just throw a bomb up there, then run. (Echo hides at the wall of the sniper's higher ground and takes out a bomb.)

(Echo tosses the bomb up.)

(The bomb lands on the ledge and begins to explode.)

Sniper octoling: Iwoooow!

Echo: Booyah! Got him! (The bomb explodes above, shooting ink everywhere. Echo cheerfully runs off.)

Echo: Hey, JZ! I got the sniper! Where'd you go? (Echo runs around, covering territory and calling.)

Octo brusher: Woo-hoo-hoo-HOOOO!----

Echo: Huh?! (Octo brusher springs by, Echo narrowly dodges her.)

Juliuz: HILDA! GET BACK HERE!

Echo: Oh! (Juliuz speeds by Echo, running after the Octo brusher.)

Echo: Was that... an octoling? (Echo watches the two run away. There's a laser on Echo's back.)
