The Opening Act (A Splatoon Script)

Part 1 - The Beginning

(The agents land inside just as the door closes.)

Coral: Hey, a little help over here? (Coral spots the agents and calls for help as the soldiers have her pinned down.)

(The octoling soldiers turn to face the agents.)

(The agents and octolings with octarians break out in a fight.)

(3 motions Coral to run down a hall.)

(Coral nods and runs.)

(Echo watches the spacecraft from below.)

(The Great Zapfish gets pulled from Deca Tower as the spacecraft leaves, making a few lights start to go out.)

(It starts to get carried away.)

Echo: Oh no... (She looks a little worried.)

Juliuz: Give me one good reason why I shouldn't chase you out of our city, Octarian. (Juliuz startles Echo.)

Echo: Because I'm NOT with those Octarians! I left the army years ago! You can trust me! (Echo turns as Juliuz comes out. He's covered in Octarian ink, and he's seriously irritated.)

Juliuz: Yeah, sure, you are. You're probably just- (Juliuz yells at Echo.)

(The power goes out completely in the city, making the two stop talking for a second.)

Juliuz: You're probably trying to take all our electricity! (Juliuz continues to yell at Echo.)

Juliuz: Do you have any idea what you and your Octarian friends have done to us? And do you have any clue what you've done to my team? You RUINED us tonight! Octolings like you shouldn't be- (Echo glances down at the portal grate to Octo Canyon. She has no idea where it'll lead her, though.)

Juliuz: Hey! I wasn't done yelling yet! (Echo jumps down the grate.)

Echo: [Thought] This is a genius idea! He'll never follow me down here, wherever "here" is! (Echo goes down the shaft in her octopus form.)

(Echo jumps out of the grate to Octo Canyon.)

Echo: Hu-uh? (Echo looks around. No one is in sight.)

Echo: Um, o-kay. This isn't what I was expecting to see here. Hello? Is anyone here? (Echo looks confused.)

(Juliuz jumps out of the grate, startling Echo.)

Echo: Wha- you followed me?!

Juliuz: Of course, I followed you! I wasn't done yelling! (Echo backs up.)

(Echo detects movement.)

Echo: Be quiet! And stay low! We're not the only ones here! (Echo drops down and pulls Juliuz down with her.)

Echo: There's more octolings here!

Juliuz: You don't say. (Echo looks out at the canyon where a couple octolings are. Juliuz looks at Echo annoyed and with a sarcastic-look.)

Echo:! (Echo looks down.)

Echo: There's a couple of people that need help! Should we do something? (Echo talks to Juliuz as she sees an elite octoling holding Marie up against a wall. Callie is down on the ground.)

Juliuz: Let's see, we've got no weapons, lots of deadly octolings are around, and no one is around to help us if we need backup! Yeah! Let's totally do something! You first! (Juliuz is still annoyed.)

Juliuz: Oh, oh you're serious. Well, don't expect me to go down there with you. (Echo goes out of their hiding place Juliuz is confused.)

(Juliuz watches Echo go down for a second.)
