The Opening Act (A Splatoon Script)

Part 1 - The Beginning

(Echo pokes her head out of the hiding spot.)

(Agents 3, 4, and 8 run towards the battle. In this, Agent 3 is male while 4 and 8 are female.)

(Agent 3 motions to 4 and 8 to attack.)

(3, 4, and 8 skillfully attack octolings and detach cables.)

Echo: What? Who? (Echo's confused as she watches everything.)

(Shift to Coral and Brooke. They're starting to get ready to pack up for the night, so they've started to get into more casual shoes and outfits. For Brooke, this is her agent outfit. They're currently oblivious to the things going on outside.)

Coral: Finally, a break! I hadn't realized that dancing that long would be so exhausting! (She slumps down in a chair.)

Brooke: Yeah. And if I had to keep up that stupid bubbly persona going for much longer, I was going to explode. THAT was the hard part.

Coral: Well, you've been doing great! I'm impressed! And I think our producer is glad you stuck with the script. (They talk as Brooke puts her dress away.)

Brooke: Thanks, Beanie. But now, all I wanna do is relax.

Coral: Sounds good to me!

Brooke: Hey, aren't you going to change out of your dress? That's gotta be uncomfortable. Brooke glances at Coral.)

Coral: In a minute! I really like it! It's- (She smiles. A window is behind her, pointing towards the battle outside.)

Sound effect: BOOM! (Coral is startled out of her seat as the battle gets louder.)

Coral: What was that?!

Brooke: I don't know! (They both rush over to the window)

Brooke: What is going on down there? (Brooke and Coral look down at the fight.)

Coral: Hey, they're coming from that... thing! Maybe we can go and stop them! Or maybe we could get some footage! It's always good to have some sort of footage so we know what's going on! (Coral points out the ship.)

Coral: Here, hold my hat. I don't want to lose it or get it messy. (She shoves her favorite hat at Brooke, surprising her.)

Brooke: Are you crazy?! We can't do anything and it's too dangerous to- (Brooke looks down, unaware that Coral just left.)

Brooke: Coral? Oh, of course, she's gone. Coral! Get back here! (Brooke goes after Coral.)

(Coral approaches the spacecraft.)

Brooke: Coral! What are you doing?

Coral: What's it look like? I'm gonna get some amazing news coverage from there! Nothing like this has ever been caught on film! And hey, maybe I could save the city and stop whoever's attacking us! Come on, you can join in!

Brooke: Honestly, Cor-(Coral goes in the spacecraft. Brooke is standing anxiously at the entrance.)

Brooke: *gasp* (Brooke spots a couple of soldiers glancing at Coral.)

Brooke: Coral! Get back here! Right now! (Brooke hisses at Coral to warn her of the imminent danger.)

Coral: I'm fine, Brooke! I'm not gonna get myself hurt or anything! (Coral turns around.)

(Coral spots the octoling soldiers and is alarmed.)

(Alarms start going off.)

(The spacecraft shifts as the doors start closing, making Brooke fall over.)

Brooke: Coral, run! (Brooke calls up to Coral as the spacecraft raises up.)

(Agents 3, 4, and 8 rush up and super-jump to the spacecraft.)
