"Good job on exposing that guy." he adds.
"Cheers." I say happily.
"On a different topic, what are you guys into?" Ash says.
"I mean, you guys seem fairly interesting."
"Well, me and Ezekiel live in England, and we're fairly average to be honest."
"I really want to be an author or teacher." Ezekiel says happily.
"And I want to be a filmmaker, DJ or writer." I quickly add.
"We both... kind of like Pokemon too." Ezekiel mentions.
"Well, seeing as you two are currently in Kanto..." Ash says quietly.
"And seeing as Jacob fainted when he saw Ash..." Delia replies, smiling mischievously.
"You two must love Pokemon." Ash exclaims.
"Yeah, that sums it up." I chuckle loudly, and take my plate up to the sink nearby.
After I take my plate up, I sit back down and quickly take my phone out of my pocket. Upon seeing no messages, I place it on the table and adjust the cushion on my chair. Out of the blue, my phone starts to vibrate extremely loudly and I look at the screen.
My mum is calling me.
I immediately dash outside, sprint to the nearest exit, and slam the door behind me. A sudden gust of wind hits me, and I start to shiver and tremble. I stare longingly at the screen, and I slowly press the green call button, and put the phone up to my ear.
"Where the hell have you been this last week?"
"Me and your dad have been worried sick!"
"You better own up, young man."
"We've had to call everyone, and tell them what's happened."
"Tell me where you are now, so I can pick you up."
I don't say anything. I don't want to say anything.
I sigh, and hang up the phone. I quickly go to the Contacts app and I block both my parents' numbers. They won't be able to contact me now. Once I have finished, I put my phone back into my pocket, and stay outside for a moment. I glance behind me, hoping no-one saw what was going on.
No one saw.
Without hesitation, I make my way back inside, and I see Delia doing the washing up with Ash. She turns her head towards me.
"Are you alright Jacob?" she asks brightly.
"Yeah." I reply instantly.
"It was spam callers." I add.
"I like to mess with them."
"They usually don't ring for that long."
She frowns at me, however she gets back to doing chores and dismisses the subject.
Thank god she bought it.
"Listen, Jacob, Ezekiel, do you mind doing a few chores for me?"
"Sure." we both reply.
We end up doing an hour's worth of chores; the dusting, table clearing, shelf reorganizing and dusting. Which for the record, is extremely boring, but I don't complain. After me and Ezekiel do all of the chores, Ash gets sent up to bed, leaving just me, Ezekiel and Mrs Ketchum downstairs.
With nothing to do, I go to the living room and Ezekiel and Mrs Ketchum follow suite. I grab the remote and I flick through the TV channels. I don't see anything particularly interesting; just average Japanese television. I notice that underneath the TV is a DVD player, so I quickly grab my suitcase from the porch and I get the first season of Doctor Who.
I quickly put it into the DVD player and switch the HDMI signal. The DVD loads, and Delia looks longingly at the menu. I press play on the first episode, and the Doctor Who theme bellows out of the TV.
As we keep watching, I take small looks at Delia, who is looking at the TV with extreme focus. While the Doctor is speaking with the Nestene of Consciousness, I hear Delia whisper "He's handsome." and I start to snigger uncontrollably.
I quickly whisper to Ezekiel "Delia likes the Doctor..." and before I know it he starts laughing loudly. Delia pauses the episode and looks at us, extremely confused.
"What are you laughing about boys?" Delia says abruptly.
"You do know that the ninth doctor is about nine hundred years old, right Mrs Ketchum?" I say in between chuckles.
"So... he's immortal?" Mrs Ketchum says curiously.
"Yeah." Ezekiel remarks, smiling.
I hear footsteps and Ash walks into the living room.
"Mom, I can't sleep, so I've come down here." he says groggily.
"Alright." Mrs Ketchum says.
"Also, your mother likes a nine hundred year old." Ezekiel says cheekily.
"Wha-"
"We better get to bed." I say.
"Your rooms are next to the kitchen." Delia says.
Ezekiel leads me to a spare room next to kitchen. He opens the door and inside the compact room is two camp beds with blue duvets and pillows. There's a small widescreen TV mounted to the wall, and LED lights across the ceiling. Ezekiel puts his suitcase underneath his bed.
"What a day, huh?" he says, exhausted.
"Yeah." I reply.
I hear Ash and Delia talking through the walls.
"What do you mean you like an immortal timelord?" Ash chimes.
"I was joking..." Delia says, a hint of guilt in her tone.
There's a brief silence, and then I hear rapid footsteps and laughing. I open the door slightly and see Ash and Delia chasing each other around the house happily. Ezekiel slowly nudges me and he looks through the door.
"They sure look like they're having fun." Ezekiel says tiredly.
"Yeah, but the fun we are gonna have over the next two weeks is going to be way, way more awesome!"
