"Frieda Schroder?" He asked. That was my cover name. I nodded my head and mentally put on my false French accent
"Yes Sir?" I answered. He nodded and then I walked to the car, getting inside. I sat in front of two buff looking men. I noted to myself they both held guns on them at all times, these men were not messing around. I watched out the window as we got further and further into the mountain. We then pulled up and stopped. The men held the door open for me and then helped me out. I followed them as they escorted me into the base that was not heavily guarded. I thanked them as they held the door open.
"Frieda Schroder?" A short round man with small glasses who I recognized as Arnim Zola. Then saw my target behind him. Johann Schmidt was a tall thin man who looked very stern. I smiled and walked up to them confidently.
"Yes Mr.?" I asked putting my hand out.
"Arnim Zola," he said shaking my hand. I smiled and then lead me further into the base. I heard Johann Schmidt mumbling next to me and I was trying to decipher what he was saying but I didn't recognize the language. It must have been in German. We made it to the office and Dr. Zola started showing me around the base and where I would be working. It was in a small office that had plenty of storage and I got set up on my desk very quickly. He gave me bunch of papers to organize into different sections and I tried to do it as quickly as possible, but the papers were never ending. I tried to see what each of the documents were on, but I could barely speak German.
(TIME SKIP 4 WEEKS LATER)
It had been a month since I have successfully been spying on HYDRA and no one had raised question. I had collected information on five HYDRA projects, and I had become quite the best assistance. I knew the Johann Schmidt liked everything neat and tidy, but I had noticed small things about him. Every 6 days he seemed on edge, he would lock himself in his office and would always want band aids and needle injections which I thought was odd. Once he had all he needed he would lock himself in his office and then it would be quiet. Then at random times I would hear screams coming from his office. I once tried to investigate but Doctor Zola would not let me. He said not to worry about it. I still wanted to know what he was doing in there. I today something was going down and I could feel it. I walked into Johann Schmidt's office to meet with them because they asked me to bring in a folder that they needed urgently. I opened the metal door and walked inside to loud opera music playing.
Johann and Zola were inside, crowded around a small desk with photos on it.
"Ahh, Frieda. You have those documents?" Johann Schmidt asked. I nodded and then walked over to them and gently placed it onto the table.
"Right now, Zola let me explain. This here is Dr. Erskine," he said opening the folder and taking out a photo of an older looking man with grey hairs and glasses. "Who has created a Serum making a better man. A Super Solider you might say. We have one of our HYDRA agents that have been tasked in assassinating this doctor because today he is carrying out the experiment. We do not know who they are doing it on but most likely some dumb American who has nothing better to do with his life." He concluded. I nodded. I felt sick. This scientist who is helping fight these men I stand with, is going to die for one of his experiments and he doesn't know. I looked up to Zola who was staring at me. I felt my body swaying.
"Uh," I paused. "Excuse me sirs." I said running out of the room. 'I needed to stop this, he cannot die." I said to myself. I then heard Zola running out after me.
"Miss Frieda, Frieda." I stopped and turned.
"You er, don't look very well you may have the rest of the day off if you need. You have been a very hard worker." He concluded. I nodded and smiled.
"Thank-you sir, I will take it but I can stay after hours tomorrow if you need." I answered. He nodded his head.
"Very well, see you then Madam." I nodded and then calmly walked out of the building hiding in the snow. I hurried my way home, making sure no one was following me. I then dashed up the stairs and grabbed my communication device turning it on.
"Come in, come in, command center, I have important information I need to share. Over." I said.
"Come in, agent 16. Over." They answered.
"HYDRA has sent a kill order for a Scientist called Doctor Erskine, he is going to be shoot after an experiment to create a Super Soldier, HYDRA will eb there do not carry out the experiment. I repeat HYDRA will be there do not carry out the experiment. Over."
"Thank-you very much for this information, agent 16. You may now return to work ant we will take your information under consideration. Over." I then cut communication and rehide the communication device under the floorboards. I a sigh of relief left my mouth as I went to my kitchen to get a glass of water. I watched as the glass slowly filled to the top.
(TIME SKIP TILL THE FOLLOWING DAY)
I walked into work and saw Johann Schmidt leading very important people to his office. I then remembered that that the ministers that were helping the Germans were coming in today to see a new weapon that HYDRA has been creating. I walked into Johann's office as quietly as I could and watched as he showed them the knew weapons he had created. I watched silently as the Berlin gentleman searched the map on the table, but his eyes lit up in fear as he saw his own.
"Berlin is on this map." He exclaimed.
"So it is," He mumbled as he started firing up the weapon. I stood still knowing what he was about to do.
"You will be punished for your insolence!" He shouted at the man who knew that wouldn't happen. The gun then pointed at him.
"You will be brought in front of the Fuhrer himself." He continued. The gun then powered up and fired at him. I gasped as I watched the poor man turn to nothing but dust on the floor. I stepped back as I watched the other two men be fired at. The first one shot and the last one, banging on the door wanting to live but I shut my eyes as her scream when the machine fired one last time. I clenched my eyes shut and thought about what Bucky or Steve would do. They would beat the man up until he couldn't breathe but I couldn't do that without blowing my cover.
"My apologies doctor, but you and I both knew that HYDRA could no longer grow in Hitler's shadow." He said. 'He was going to die for his actions, just not yet.'
"Hail HYDRA." He said. I flinched as the other men started chanting.
"Hail HYDRA, Hail HYRDA." They then turned to Zola. And he mumbled back.
"Hail HYDRA."
