(November, 1938)
(Steve's POV)
Bucky and I were walking up the stairs to Florence's house when we saw the door ajar. We both looked at each other and then ran up the stairs. We saw Florence on the floor with two letters in front of her. She had her hands over her face, and she was sobbing franticly. Bucky immediately ran over to her and pulled her into a hug. I cautiously bent down to her and put my hand on her back.
"Florence, what's wrong?" I asked her and she opened her eyes and pointed to the letters on the floor. I gently picked one up and read it.

My heart dropped. Both of Florence's parents had died and she was all by herself. I dropped the letter and gave her a hug. She turned to me and cried into my shirt, staining it with her tears. Bucky then picked the letter up and read it.
"Oh, doll." He spoke hugging into Florence.
We stayed like that for a little bit till Florence stopped crying as hard. She still had continuous tears streaming down her face, but we eventually helped her up to her feet and walked her up to her room. We tucked her back into bed Bucky stayed next to her. It reminded me when my mother died. Florence and Bucky never left my side until I could properly deal with it. I was a mess for days on end, but Florence was there to comfort me, and Bucky was always there to lend a helping hand. They helped me overcome my grief and I want to do that for Florence. I made her a bowl of warm soup and quickly brought it up to her. She took it in her hands but was too sad to even think about eating it. Bucky eventually had to hand feed her, so she got some food into her system. She stayed in bed blankly starring into space for hours on end. She barely spoke but we always stayed by her side.
(TIME SKIP TILL 2 DAYS LATER)
(Florence POV)
I never left my bed. I had no emotion but grief and sadness. Bucky and Steve inhabited the house while I stayed in my room. Mother and Father never said goodbye. They just left saying they would be back in 3 days. They came back for a month and then left and then that cycle continued for ages until they left 6 days ago and the only thing that ever came back was their condolence letters. I didn't know what to do. Bucky and Steve tried to get me out of bed and outside for a walk, but I always refused. I didn't know how far I would get without bursting into tears and falling onto the floor in a pile of mattered hair, unsteady limbs, a broken heart, and tears that make rivers overflow.
