"Well that was eventful."

"Fuck off."

"What? I got to play medic..." Harrison looked completely chuffed with himself. "That's my mother, asshole." Y/N grumbled, narrowing her eyes at the lanky man, who had a very slight spring in his step as he made his way up the steps and through  the homes front door. "I was definitely a doctor in my past life, that's all I'm saying-"

"All you did was shine a torch in her eyes, you melon." Y/N retorted as she kicked the door closed behind her. "Who's a melon?" Tom asked, appearing out of nowhere.

"Harrison-"

"Y/N- Ow!"

"Fuck off."

"She's in a mood with me because I got to play medic." Harrison smirked, rubbing his bicep. "No - I'm in a mood with you because you're a MELON. A wet one, at that." She snapped back, leaning towards him. "Hey! Now that's just bloody rude-"

"Alright alright, stop it you two. Harrison, go help Sam, Y/N - sit down and relax, you look like you're going to explode." Tom breathed, ushering his friend away upstairs with a point, other hand on the back of his neck.

-

Y/N spun her ring around her finger, hands restless after she told Tom the latest after her visit to her mums. "Stop it, you'll hurt your finger." He said, placing a hand over hers. "So she didn't know?" "No, nothing. If anything we just opened old wounds and hurt her about it more, I want to fucking kill him."

"Don't say that. He's your dad-"

"Biologically, yes. Family wise? Absolutely not. And honestly Tom, I don't think you're in any position to be all like 'Oh but he's your dad' to be honest." Y/N snapped her head up to look at him, eyes dark. "I know you're upset, and I'm sorry, but please calm down - it's not my fault."

Y/N sighed, the guilt weighing heavy . "I'm sorry, love. I'm just...confused. I just don't get it. Why then, why now and what does he have to do with all of this? It just doesn't make any sense."

"I don't know, darling, I wish I did. But that's what we're going to find out. I will stop at nothing until we get the answers we both need...for your sanity and mine." Tom whispered, wrapping his arms around her, pulling her into him. He could feel her tense muscles instantly relaxing.

"Forget about it for now anyway, we've got people out there and they'll bring back anything and everything they learn. In the meantime, why don't you think about the gala tomorrow night?" Tom threaded his fingers through her hair, lightly grazing his fingers up at down her scalp as if he did it long enough - he could pull the tension right out of her. You could tell that touch was his love language in the most fleeting glance, whenever he wasn't touching her - his eyes raged with longing.

"I know, I know. Bev called last night, told me that my dress is ready. I've never seen someone so excited to look at my drawings." Y/N panned a soft smile to him, her mind casting back to the squeals that the designer had let out when she'd hand delivered the sketched vision of her Gala dress to the shop some weeks ago.

"I'm still mad that you wouldn't let me see it." Tom said, shooting a fake pout over causing her to chuckle. "Only because you see all of my dresses. I want at least one to be a surprise. Something new. Besides, she's bringing it round in the morning." She shrugged at him, trying her best to act disinterested when despite all the turmoil circling her insides at the moment - she was more than excited to have a carefree night of whimsy and celebration.

"Oh, Cassie and Jen said they'd be round in the afternoon too - but I'm sure Harrison will keep you entertained until I'm ready." Her lip curling into a smirk, she shot him a wink and he rolled his eyes in fake disappointment back. "Maybe I'll get him to spill the details on that girl from New Years that he keeps pretending he never met." Tom grumbled, causing his lover to throw her head back with a cackle.
