AN: Hey guys! I hope you've not lost interest in my book because I've not updated in a while. The reason for that is because my final exams are in one week and I've been completely caught up with revision stuff. Anyone sitting exams next week or whenever: I wish you the best of luck.

Please comment, vote, subscribe, the usual routines to show me you still love me. <3 and I apologise in advance for the cliffhanger. (Not really- MWAHAHAHAHAHAHA.) Enjoy...

Violet's POV

It was 7:10pm. The moon was at a perfect angle in the sky, illuminating the forest trees like a vacant flush. Its silver light entered me; refreshed me; comforted me. I was more nervous than I cared to admit to myself.

Jasper smiled from beside me. "Relax, baby. They're gonna love you. I swear it." We were walking deeper and deeper into the forest, to the point that I was wondering where we could possibly be going that was so hidden in the earth. I didn't question it though, just let my mate and the faith I had in my mate lead the way.

"But what if they don't? What if they want to hurt me?"

My mate came to a sudden halt and began to shake. He growled under his breath, and I glanced at him, stunned.

"If anyone so much as lays a finger on you, I will slit their throat and watch the life leave their eyes."

My mouth went dry, though I wasn't sure whether it was out of fear of my mate or for him.  Noticing my expression, Jasper calmed.

"Look Violet. before I met you, killing was like my five a day. You... You changed me. I don't know how, I don't know why... But you did, and I'm ever grateful for that. There will always be a part of me, though, that has the desire to kill."

I stared at him, wide-eyed. "Why?"

"That's a story for another day. Not now." Although his voice was calm, there was desperation in his eyes. It almost looked like fear. Of losing me? That wasn't going to happen. Either way, I nodded and gave him a smile that said  I'm here for you, no matter what. He visibly relaxed, placing a hand over my shoulder just as a figure approached.

"Ah, Caspian. You're just in time."

I glanced quizzically at my mate. Just in time for what?

"Vi, Caspian is going to stay with you for a few minutes before the meeting starts. I have something to do very quickly."

I nodded although all the ambiguity had perked my curiosity. "Ok babe. See you soon." Standing on tiptoes, I leaned in to kiss him, and we lingered a moment before he reluctantly broke the kiss. He walked off into the nearby trees and I fought the strong urge to run after him. I hated being apart from him for too long.

A throat cleared behind me, and I turned around with cheeks the colour of rubies. Shit. I'd forgotten he was there. I mentally slapped myself. The Beta would think I was a whore before I had even spoken a word to him.

There were two options here. Either act like an awkward teenager who had just been caught making out with her boyfriend, or act like a Luna, the mate of this Beta's Alpha. Decision made, I squared my shoulders and extended my arm.
