CHAPTER 73

When the elevator was about to close may humabol na isang lalaki at nang tignan ko ito, it's Rod.

Rod: Ti-Tito? Ka-kamusta po? Sino pong kasama niyo? Ano pong ginagawa niyo dito?

Edward: Kamusta ang anak ko, Roderick?

Rod: Ayos naman po. Kayo po? Kamusta kayo?

Edward: Promise me, aalagaan mo siya ha? Wag na wag mong sasaktan.

Rod: Pangako po.

As the elevator opens, we immediately went out. Our conversation goes on until someone called me and as I turn back, it's the Doctor so I faced him.

Doctor: Mr. Chavez! Oh god thing naabutan ki— Wait, A-Architect Laurel? Yes, Ikaw nga (then offer his hand for a handshake)

Rod: Hi (then smile forcedly coz until now he's still figuring out kung sino siya)

Doctor: I'm Floyd Punzalan. Ako yung nagpagawa sayo ng plano two years ago.

Rod: Okay?

Doctor: Hindi mo na siguro maalala, right? Pero okay lang, I understand. Ahm, are you guys related?

Rod: Huh?! A-actually—

Edward: Yes, he's my son-in-law.

Doctor: Oh okay. Anyway, Mr. Chavez you left this (then handed the prescription of medicine)

Edward: Hindi ko na kailangan yan, Doc.

As I tell those words, the Doctor's smile slowly disappear. After a second, nagpaalam na ako then immediately went to the parking area dahil anong oras na din. I'm sure kanina pa ako hinihintay ni Maddison so I quickly hop in the car at agad na nagtungo sa Resto.

When I reach the Resto, I gave my keys para sila nalang ang mag-park ng sasakyan ko. As I enter, agad namang may lumapit sa akin at tinanong ang pangalan ko. I followed her and when she open the door, I saw my wife waiting for me already so I walk towards her and gave her a kiss.

*While eating

Maddison: Hon, nagpunta ka ba sa Doctor kanina?

Edward: Yes, hon.

Maddison: So?

I put down the utensils and slowly look at my wife. Alam kong naiiyak na siya so I hold her hand and smile. Well, hindi pa talaga niya alam kung ano ang totoong mga results because I always tell her na everything's okay pero sa tingin ko kailangan ko ng sabihin sa kanya ngayon since we are in a private room.

Maddison: Hon, please tell me the truth!

Edward: I....I only have less than 5 months to live, Hon.

As I tell those words, her tears started to fall and giving me a confuse look so I simply smile and hold her hand tighter. I'm also trying my best not to cry kasi I want to show her na okay ako....Okay lang ako.
