june 7, 1998
my rose,
i turned eighteen today!!
you should turn eighteen next tuesday. a week and a day after i did.
i can't help but think of all the birthdays you'll miss and all the christmases i'll endure without you.
june 15. in another life that day might've meant nothing to me. i might've gone about my day like normal. but i can't anymore.
because you were born on june 15. on june 15 i was given the best gift the world has ever given me and i didn't even know it.
you'd always liked your birthday, which you thought was mildly self-centered but blaise insisted it wasn't.
i met you the day you turned five. you had a cake decorated with flying edible books. nerd.
i believe i've untainted some of our memories. i look back on things i used to look back on with malice and hatred and i laugh. my rosy.
i'll always love you.
for evermore,
your pansy
