Special Chapter 6

Third person's POV

But Mina doesn't want to back down, 'Thank you for giving me my life, but I'm sorry, you can't control my life anymore. I'm all grown up now, I will make my own decisions.' She argues back at her parents.

Chaeyoung gently pulls Mina's hand to subtly let her know that the girl's words might just crossed the line,

'What did you just say, Mina?' Mrs Myoui asks, she's standing up from her seat, her hands are shaking a little out of anger, 'We didn't raise you to be like this.' Mina is a good daughter, she only argues back when it's something really important to her. But this time, her words are really out of line and that made Mrs Myoui very upset,

Mina's eyes get teary because both of her parents who would normally love her so much and would normally let her do anything she wishes, now seem to be quite angry at her. But it's the matter of her own happiness, and she can't give up on it, 'If... if it's making you uncomfortable to see me with Chaeyoung, then you don't have to see us after this. I... I don't need your approval anymore.' She says to her parents,

Mrs Myoui couldn't hold in her anger anymore after hearing such disrespectful words from her beloved daughter, she raises her right hand, wanting to teach Mina a lesson right then and there,

Seeing Mina is about to get hit, Chaeyoung made a decision as of that instant, she can't just grab onto Mrs Myoui's wrist to stop her, because that would be so disrespectful, so she chose the other way. Chaeyoung quickly covers Mina with her whole body, and ultimately takes that strong hit full of anger from Mrs Myoui,

Mrs Myoui's hand landed real hard right on Chaeyoung's upper back. Chaeyoung winces her face in pain while Mr and Mrs Myoui have their eyes wide open in surprise, they didn't expect Chaeyoung would just jump right in front and shield Mina like that,

'Chaengie, are you alright?' Mina is furiously checking on Chaeyoung's back,

'I'm alright, Minari. Don't worry.' Chaeyoung tells Mina eventhough her back is burning in pain right now,

'Let's go, Chaengie. I don't want to stay here anymore.' Mina says to Chaeyoung while glancing at her parents, showing disappointment on her face,

But Chaeyoung stops her, 'Minari, we can't go just yet.'

'No, let's get out of here. We are not welcome here. We don't need their approval anymore.' Mina continues her rebellious mode,

'It's really bad manner if we just leave like this. And you, Mina, you shouldn't be talking to your parents like this.' Chaeyoung tells her, being from ancient time where Confucianism is widely in practice, arguing back and speaking disrespectful words towards older family members are unacceptable,

'No, Chaengie, I want to go.' Mina insists,

Having no other choices, giving Mina is stubbornly arguing, 'Is my Minari not listening to me?' Chaeyoung uses the magic question, her tone is still soft and warm, but the question itself made Mina stops arguing right away,

Mina pouts her lips, after two long years, the upright Chaeyoung still has the power to make her rethink about her actions. And now that Mina actually slows down to think about it, she was indeed quite disrespectful towards her parents. Knowing that she was wrong, Mina looks down to her feet and stays quiet after that,
