At the same time, I am extremely happy. It will give Ezekiel a lot of good distractions from the pain he faced back at home just weeks ago, and its nice seeing him genuinely excited about the life ahead of him.
Anyway, I speak up.
"Seriously?"
"Yep."
"She was the waitress in the Premier Inn breakfast hall that I mouthed sorry to when you screamed in my ears to try and wake me up." he says sluggishly.
"Well, it wasn't my fault you fell asleep on a table." I say back.
He slumps back in his chair and stares blankly into the many rows of seats ahead of us.
My mind goes blank on what to say to him, until I realize something.
What are our families feeling right now?
Do they hate us? Loathe us? Despise us?
Whatever they feel, it is certainly an interesting question to ask.
"Dude?"
"Yeah?"
"Do you wonder how our parents must be feeling now that we have ran?" I say curiously.
He pauses for a moment, looking deep in thought.
"Well, I do feel scared for our family." he says in a truthful tone.
"Moses is the only child in the house now, so I hope he is OK."
"More importantly, the idea of running away broke my parents' hearts, and seeing as we have now done so, rather than for them to fall back, it should teach them to stay strong, and give them a valuable lesson."
"I'm sure that they feel horrible, but if we hadn't done this, then to be honest, we would still be trapped in a dysfunctional house, and I can guarantee that the arguing would have got worse for both households."
I can't help but agree.
"So, what about your school friends?" I add.
"Didn't have any in London." he says grumpily.
"Seriously?" I say, surprised.
"Yep."
"You?"
"Well, I did have a good few, but I did tell them if I didn't return to school for a long time then they know where I've gone."
"That's fair." he says, looking shattered and utterly bored.
"You want to borrow my DVD player?"
"Sure."
I unzip my suitcase and start browsing through everything I have, until I find the portable red DVD player that I bought underneath a bunch of clothes. I extend my arm out, and he grabs the player, before opening it up and putting the first disc of Clannad in.
I decide to have a little nap.
I lay my head back on the seat, and I close my eyes, taking in the sounds of the plane moving and the theme of Clannad playing.
TIMESKIP - FIVE HOURS - 4:12 PM
"Jacob!"
"Jacob, wake up!"
"JACOB!"
My eyes slowly open, and I rub my eyes to get rid of my blurry vision.
"We are in Kanto!"
I look up and see Ezekiel staring at me happily, and when I look out of the window, I see numerous flying Pokémon, spreading their wings happily and keeping up with the plane. From as far as I can see, the sky is littered with groups of the different creatures; I see numerous Talonflames, all flying together in a pack, a diamond of Staraptors, a line of Altarias, and many others which I surprisingly cannot name.
