I was finishing up my packing for New York when my mom walks in.
"Please be careful okay? I trust the boys and I love them with my whole heart but please take care of yourself and be safe. Have a good christmas with them and stay together. I love you so much okay?" She looks at me teary eyed. I smile softly tearing up. I hated leaving her for long periods of time. She was my rock and I always needed her constantly.
"Mom of course I'll stay safe. Plus I'll facetime you every night. I can't go to bed without saying goodnight to you anyway. But I love you too." I stand up and walk over to her to give her a hug. We squeeze each other tightly.
"I'll only be gone for a couple of days, when you see dad tell him I love him okay? But I've gotta go. I'll see you in a couple days momma." She nods and kisses my forehead. She leaves the room and walks down the stairs. I zip up my backpack and grab my small suitcase. I carefully get to my car and pack everything inside of it. The boys said that we were originally going to drive to New York but then Cyrus's car broke down so then they had bought the plane tickets. I'm okay with that because I hate driving when Cy drives. I get into the driver seat and make my way to the boys' house. When I get there the boys run out and pack their stuff in the car almost immediately. They were so excited and I had no idea what was going on. I giggle as they get into the car and buckle up.
"Hurry! I wanna take pictures before we board the plane." Noah exclaims proudly taking his camera out of his backpack. Everyone laughs and soon enough we're on the road to the airport.
"Don't worry Noah you'll have enough time to take photos." We giggle as I speak up about the pictures. The ride to the airport was nice. Comforting and fun to be exact. The boys got along and we were blasting our favorite songs. When I hung out with the boys it's like I forget all the problems that happened around me. They're everything to me. Especially Matt. He's always there when I need him and we've always been that way. Even when we were little we were always together and backing each other up. When we got to the airport Noah gave us our tickets.
"Seat F20." I read off my ticket. Matt gasps and nudges my arm softly.
"Dude! I have F21! We're next to each other." He smiles at me and I giggle. I'm glad I'm sitting next to Matt. We'll be talking the whole flight. We had about a three and a half hour flight because we were flying to Rochester, New York. I was excited because I'd never been to Rochester. I went to New York, New York when I was really little but I only remember because of the photos. As we were going through security the boys started to quiet down. They were looking at each other often and smirking.
"What is going on with you guys." I whisper into Noah's ear. He smiles and grabs his suitcase off the desk. I look at him confused and furrow my brows.
"You'll understand when we get to New York." He says as he pats my back softly. I scoffed at him and walked with them to the gate. Matt, Cyrus and I went to grab food while Noah was on FaceTime with the boy he likes.
"He seems to really like this boy huh Cyrus?" Matt asks Cy and we get into line to grab our food. Cyrus agrees with Matthew. Noah hasn't been telling me everything about this kid he likes, I don't even know his name. He's just been hanging out with Brooke so much recently which is why I've stuck closer to Matt and Cyrus lately. Not that I minded that. No matter what they do or say to each other Cyrus and
Matt were each others best friend so it was weird to come in between them. I felt out of place without Noah. To be honest, I just missed my best friend. When we got back to our gate Cyrus called Gabriella and Noah was still on the phone.
"So Matt? Who's this girl you like?" I ask again, really wanting to know who Matt likes.
"Trust me, you don't need to know. You don't even know her." He shrugs it off and lays his head on my shoulder.
"Well whoever she is would be such a lucky girl. You such an amazing person Matt and anyone who doesn't see that can fucking leave." I giggle as I speak. He chuckles and I feel his head shake softly on my shoulder.
"You're not the only person to say that about her you know." He says as he picks his head off my shoulder. We look at each other and then down at our phones.
"Passengers on the flight to Rochester, start boarding now." The overhead speaker sounded. Noah jumps out of his seat.
"I have to go! I'll call you when I'm in New York. Bye!" He says hanging up the phone with his friend and getting his suitcase. Cyrus does the same with his girlfriend and grabs his stuff as well. Matt and I look at each other and giggle.
"Weirdos!" I say nudging his arm gently as he grabs his bags.
"Honestly! Such weirdos." He says with a big smile and a roll of his eyes. We all walk to the ticket checking together and then get on the plane. Matt helps me with my suitcase, putting it in the compartment above our seats. Noah and Cyrus's seats were two rows in front of us, so the flight would really be Matt and I unless they came back to chat. I sit down and look up at Matt closing the compartment above our seats.
"Which seat are you in again Annie?" He says seeing an empty seat next to me.
"F20. F21 is right here." I say to him pointing to my left. He shrugs seeing the extra seat and lays across the both of them. I giggle and punch his arm.
"Sit up goofball." I say with a smile and he chuckles and sits up in his seat.
"Are you excited?" He asks me settling into his seat. I smile and nod my head gently.
"Even though I have no idea what you guys have planned." I roll my eyes sarcastically, look away from him and cross my arms. He pouts and looks at me.
"I'm sorry. But you'll find out when we get there! It's gonna be a lotta fun I swear." He exclaims clapping his hands together like a child. I giggle softly at his action and push him away slightly.
"And what if it's not?" I ask. He puts his finger to his chin and looks up to the ceiling of the plane. I smile watching him act this out.
"I'll buy you dinner when we get back to Maine." He suggests, tilting his head slightly to the left.
"Are you asking me out Mattew?" I say with a smirk, just joking around with him. He looks at me wide eyed and rubs the back of his neck.
"No of course not! That's fucking ridiculous!" He laughs it off awkwardly and then pulls out his phone. I look at him confused. What the hell was that, I ask myself wondering why he suddenly got so awkward.
"Ladies and gentlemen, we are about to take off so if you could fasten your seatbelts to keep you safe! Enjoy the flight." The pilot speaks into the microphone and then there was static. Matt puts his seatbelt on and lifts his light brown hoodie over his head. I watch him as I struggle to buckle my seatbelt. He looks over at me and I quickly look away fastening my belt finally. I could feel his gaze on me but I couldn't look back at him. Why couldn't I look back? I gained the confidence and looked at Matt. We smiled at each other and looked down at our phones. The plane started to move and I start to get anxious. I grabbed Matts hand and held onto it tightly.
"Are you okay?" He asks with a small squeeze on my hand. I shake my head softly with my eyes shut tightly. I put my head down enclosing myself into a hole. He puts his other hand on mine and squeezes softly once more.
"You're alright Hannah. I've got you, you're always safe with me." He whispers into my ear quietly. Those words sent sparks throughout my entire body. I could feel my cheeks turning a pinkish color and I smile. All the anxiety I was feeling in that moment disappeared when he whispered to me. It was the most amazing feeling.
"Thank you matty." I giggle at the nickname and so does he. The plane finally takes off and Im still holding onto Matts hand. I don't know it just felt...right in someway. He doesn't even try to move it as well. We comfortably sat here hand in hand on our way to New York.
"Do you wanna watch a movie to pass the time or something?" Matt asks me smiling. I shrug my shoulders and nod.
"Why not?" I chuckle. With his free hand he turns a movie on on his screen and we start watching it. I scooted closer to him so I could actually see the full screen. I ended up resting my head on Matts shoulder and peacefully falling asleep.
