EXT. NEAR LYON ESTATES - AFTERNOON
Marty is carrying his skateboard as he walks with Halli past the sign reading "LYON ESTATES", with two stone lions on either side. There's more trees in this area, and it's much quieter than the busy town square.
MARTY
So, Halli...where you from?
HALLI
Uh...not here...not exactly. I've got some family around, though. I'm just here to visit.
MARTY
Hey, that's great! But how do you know Doc?
HALLI
He's...he's family. Is this the road?
MARTY
Sure--it's just three blocks down, near the Burger King. You can't miss it. This is my house right here. I've gotta get ready for garage band practice right now. Can you find the rest of the way yourself?
He points out a suburban home off to the left. Halli starts walking onto the street, not looking where she's going.
HALLI
Definitely! Thanks for all your help, Da...I mean, Marty.
A car is coming up behind her while she isn't watching. It's coming up fast--it can't stop--
MARTY
Halli, look out!
Marty manages to throw himself into the street, knocking Halli out of the way. Car tires SCREECH as Marty tries to dodge the car himself, but it's too late--he's been hit by the car and is knocked clean out! Halli spins around a stares for a moment before screaming:
HALLI
DAD!
She runs to his side, trembling as the car ZOOMS AWAY! It's a hit and run!
HALLI
Dad...oh no...oh no. I've killed him. I've killed my dad.
Someone races out Marty's front door to help. Halli doesn't seem to notice, but it's her own grandfather at the age of 46, GEORGE McFLY.
