There was no need for denial. Not anymore.

She understood everything now.

Well, not everything, but enough to continue without overthinking or being hesitant.

It wasn't about falling for him. She didn't need to go on a date. She understood that spending quality time with him, going to an art museum, doing a cooking class, or even pottery. That would be enough.

One day, she would wake up and know that this was it. That she was in love. It wasn't today, tomorrow, or next week, but it would be one day. And she was perfectly fine with that.

River shook his head and huffed. "That sounds cheesy,"

He was trying to figure out how to introduce himself to Claudia's father, and he was failing.

A simple 'Hello,' wouldn't work.

River was overcomplicating it.

"Mr. McCallister, I'm River. Your daughter is perfect and-"

'Forget it. I do better when I don't think.'

He pressed the ramp button in his truck to get out.

Claudia hadn't expressed disdain for her father, so he knew the man wasn't a bad parent.

There was nothing to worry about.

He hoped.

River wheeled to the front door with the painting on his lap.

Before he reached the door, it opened, revealing Claudia's father.
