"we're here to have our pet-" amy began.

"-put down." i finished her sentence.

"-looked at!" she corrected.

"she's in denial." i said.

"uhm.. what kind of animal is it?" the man asked.

"a bobcat."

"we don't take bobcats." the man said, with a worried expression.

i pulled out my wallet.

"or bribes."

i glared.

"oh. well, in the case, it's a.." amy looked downwards.

she said no several times, and i could hear the sounds of colby transforming in the cage.

"it's a turtle." amy said.

the man shrugged.

"so, how much would it cost to put down a turtle?" i asked. "he's kind of annoying and-"

"we're not putting him down!" jake reminded.

"sorry!" i said sarcastically.

"i really like your shoes." i pointed downwards, smiled, and took a seat next to amy and jake.
