Chapter 12

Need You

"So, what is it, Czar?" I asked when I saw him in my office.

Dahan-dahan niyang inangat ang hinahawakang folder. Napahalukipkip ako at inangat ang aking kilay. "Nakilala mo na ba kung sino ang doktor na nag-attend kay Daddy?"

He pressed his lips and nodded. For a long time, it was difficult to identify the doctor in charge of my father.

How could you not know the records of your patients? I can sue this hospital! You know that!" Bulyaw ko kay Czar. 

Nang handa na akong kwelyuhan si Czar, agad akong hinila ng pinsan kong si Ivo. "Jhoanne, please. Calm down, would you?"

Siniko ko si Ivo at pinandilatan. "Pwede ba? Paano ako kakalma, ha?"

"You can't sue us without evidences, Jhoanne. Apparently, wala ang doctor ni Mr. dela Torre nang dinala siya sa ospital," paliwanag niya. Inabot niya sa akin ang isang itim na folder. "Take a look at this yourself."

I can't fight the urge to scoff at him. "You really came prepared with your fabricated evidences, huh? I commend you for that," I said sarcastically. 

Napakuyom ng panga si Czar. Halatang-halata sa ekspresyon niyang hirap na hirap siyang kontrolin ang kanyang galit. 

"Those weren't fabricated, Jho." He said sternly.

I rolled my eyes at him. In that current state, I had to force myself to listen to whatever he says. I was too angry at him that I would rather stay stubborn. 

Pero, alam ko ring hindi tamang hindi ko siya pakikinggan. Mas mahalaga pa rin ang hustisya para sa aking ama. Hindi ko hahayaang ang sarili kong pride ang makahahadlang nito.

Napapikit ako at napabuntong-hininga. Sa totoo lang, hindi ko alam kung tama nga ba ang desisyong hayaan siyang tumulong sa pag-iimbestiga kay Daddy. 

I just cannot eliminate the possibility that he can be an insider. 

Napatikhim siya at maayos na inilatag ang mga dokumentong hawak niya. I watch him open a folder. 

"So..." he began speaking. Inangat niya ang tingin niya sa akin dahilan kung bakit nagtama ang aming mga tingin.

Napalunok ako. I never really noticed his warm brown eyes before. What made my it more unique are the dark, brown outlines of his pupils. That's probably the reason why I've always thought his eyes were dark.

Yeah, his eyes were always dark and stern for me. His eyes have always made me feel like he will bring dangers to me.

I should have looked into his eyes more often...

...in that way I could have deduce that he has genuine intentions.

Czar Maximus Cervantes, ano nga ba talaga ang motibo mo? Bakit mo ako tinutulungan ng ganito? Ito ang mga katanungan palaging naglalaro sa isipan ko.

"You're attracted to me now?" His eyes squint a little as his smirk played on his lips. 

Nang sinabi niya iyon, doon ko lang napagtanto kung gaano kalapit ang mukha namin sa isa't isa. I immediately pushed my chair backwards and look away. 

Naramdaman ko ang dahan-dahan na pag-init ng aking pisngi. Shit! Ano ba ang pinag-iisip ko?

I heard Czar's suppressed chuckle. "Mariel, please adjust the aircon temperature. Mukhang naiinitan si Jho."

Oh right! Hindi lang pala kami ang nasa loob ng silid. Now, I feel more awkward.

Napatingin ako sa mga dokumento.
