It was the next day, Anna and Louella were sat in their English class. No one in Louella's class knew about her dad apart from Anna. She wanted it that way. They had a project to do, they had to come up with a company name and a product from their line. It was now Louella's turn to present. She got up and walked to the front.
"My product is called "The Darden" after my dad. It's turnout gear to limit the amount of fire that can get through the jacket. By wearing this gear, you'll have at least 20 seconds to slip out of the jacket before the fire hits your skin. This can help prevent the amount of burn deaths every year" Louella explained
"Ugh boring" A few of the students muttered
"Quiet down! I love the idea Louella, what made you come up with it?" The teacher asked
Louella looked at Anna who mouthed "You've got this"
"My dad died, earlier this year. Thought a building was vented but it wasn't. They opened a door and my dad got hit. It took 10 seconds for it to kill my dad" Louella said as the class went quiet
"We'll I think it's a lovely idea Louella, well done" The teacher smiled as Louella made her way back to her seat

It was a few weeks later and Anna and Louella had been dating secretly. It was Christmas Eve and as usual Kelly and Casey were working. They were working Christmas Day too. Louella found herself at the academy, she was sat next to her dads memorial.
"Casey put the star on the tree. It's the first year you've not been able to do it. I know you would've wanted him to do it but it just feels different. It snowed this year, I know how much you missed the snow last year" Louella smiled
"How long have you been standing there?" Louella asked as she turned around to see Anna
"Long enough, I'll be out front. Come out when your ready" Anna smiled before kissing her forehead and walking out
"You would have loved Anna, she's perfect. I wish you could've met her. She's funny and smart. She honestly reminds me of you sometimes. I doubt that mom has come to see you, she couldn't handle it. The pain of loosing you, no one can really. Everyone loved you dad, I need you to know that" Louella said before placing a hand on her dads memorial

Louella walked out and saw Anna sitting on the step waiting for her.
"You okay?" Anna asked
"I will be" Louella said as she took her hand
"Come on, Jay wants you to drop by the district" Anna said as they began to walk
Some time later they arrived at the district
"Hey kid" Jay smiled
"Hey" Louella smiled as she sat at Antonio's desk
"What do you think your doing?" Antonio asked
"Oh please, we both know you weren't working" Louella laughed
"Can you run these over to the firehouse?" Jay asked placing a box on the desk
"Of course, I'm stopping by later tonight anyway. It's the annual firehouse movie night." Louella explained
"That's Gabby's thing right?" Antonio asked
"Yeah she sets up a big protector in the briefing room, I think we're watching Elf this year" Louella smiled

It was later that day, Louella has arrived at the firehouse. She was greeted by shay and Gabby
"Hey you!!" Gabby smiled as she hugged her
Shay and Gabby had definitely stepped up in the past year. They had become mother figures to Louella, just like Kelly and Casey had become father figures.
"Come on and help me make the popcorn!" Gabby said as she took Louella's hand
"Don't trust her with the popcorn Lou!" Shay yelled
"Shush!" Gabby laughed as they walked inside
The night went by perfectly, they watched elf snd funnily enough they didn't get called out to any calls. The movie finished and Louella was given a box that she had to put away in the bunker room. She walked in and began to sit the box down, when she looked up she locked eyes with her dad jacket.
"We didn't have the guts to take it down" Casey said as he stood at the door
"I'm dating a girl, a perfect one at that. I know that dad would want me to tell you. I've been putting it off but I don't know why" Louella said as Casey walked over to her
"Hey, I could not be more proud of you for telling me. You so special Lou, no one in here is ever going to disapprove of you. I can promise you that" Casey smiled
Louella just wrapped her arms around Casey
"Thank you for being my dad this past year" Louella said
"No one could ever replace your dad. I'm honoured that I get to see you grow up kid" Casey smiled...
