Chapter 6 - How did you know?

Louella rushed home and Kelly and Casey had just finished shift.
"Where did you go?" Casey asked looking through the mail
"Oh, just took the long way home" Louella said
"Shay and Gabby are coming over for dinner" Kelly said as he dumped his keys on the counter
"I'm not cooking, we can order take out" Casey said
The night went on and after an hour Gabby and shay had arrived. Louella was in her room doing homework when she heard a knock at the door
"Come in!" She yelled
"Hey!" Shay smiled
"Hey shay!" Louella smiled, putting her homework to one side
"How are you?" Shay asked as she sat on the edge of her bed
"I'm good, can I ask you something?" Louella asked
"Go ahead" Shay smiled
"You know how your Gay and all? How did you know you were" Louella asked
"I'm not sure, I guess I just kind of knew. I was never ashamed of it. Why? Do you have something you need to tell me Lou?" Shay asked
Louella looked at shay
"Dinner!" Casey yelled
"Sorry" Louella said as she got up and walked out

They all then sat down for dinner, shay kept looking at Louella from across the table.
"So how was school Lou?" Casey asked
"Fine" Louella smiled
"Oh crap, Halstead called. A girl they busted a few weeks ago is transferring to your school, he asked if you could show her the ropes" Kelly said
"Of course" Louella said as she looked at shay
"So have you met Anna before Lou?" Gabby asked
"Briefly, I ran into her at the district" Louella smiled
"Just giver her a chance, I'm sure it'll be worth it" Casey smiled

It was later that night, shay was spending the night as her apartment was being re painted. Louella had finished up with the last of her homework when her phone buzzed. She picked it up to see a text from Anna

Anna - I'll forgive you for ditching me today
Louella - Terribly sorry, I'll make it up to you
Anna - You better 😤
Louella - I will but as of right now, sleep is calling
Anna - Copy that, Sweet Dreams Ella ❤️

Before Louella could respond shay walked in
"What's making you smile?" She asked
"Oh nothing" Louella said as she sat her phone down
"Our conversation earlier? Did you have anything you needed to tell me?" Shay asked
"What? No! Of course not!" Louella said
"You can tell me anything Lou, you know that" Shay smiled
"I was just curious shay, I'm fine. I don't need to say anything" Louella said
"Are you sure?" She asked
"Positive" Louella smiled
"Well I'm always here if you need me, Goodnight Lou" Shay smiled as she kissed her forehead before walking out
