Xiang Hao Ting felt like it was his life's best decision to come and talk to Yu Xi Gu today. He regretted many things uptil now but he had got a second chance. A second chance to make things better, a second chance to love someone, a second chance to do all the things he couldn't with Yu Xi Gu.
Probably, Yu Xi Gu would never regain his memories at all. His memories about Xiang Hao Ting and the time they were just high schoolers who had took upon the challenge to be together through all odds. But now, they both had a second chance at life and also miraculously, their love.
Xiang Hao Ting decided to let go off all his past memories at that moment. He wanted to start anew with this person in front of him whom he loved so much. He wanted to be together with the Yu Xi Gu he was seeing now. Xiang Hao Ting had finally got some kind of closure to all the mixed up feelings deep in his heart for all this time. He knew he loved Yu Xi Gu the way he is now and it didn't matter if Yu Xi Gu remembered him from the past or not.
"Hey, the coffee's here. Why are you so lost in your thoughts?"
Yu Xi Gu laughed as he saw Xiang Hao Ting space out for a moment.
"Sorry but I have to say this, you look really cute with that goofy spacing out expression."
Xiang Hao Ting instantly blushed at the possible compliment (?).
"Oh well, sorry I'm so cute even while spacing out." Xiang Hao Ting retorted.
This was the first time Yu Xi Gu heard him speak like that and he knew he loved this person so much. Yu Xi Gu giggled happily staring at Xiang Hao Ting with big watery eyes.
"You'll make a hole through my head if you keep staring with those hopeful eyes, which kind of make me feel like you want something from me but I'm just going to drink my coffee right now. Eat your cake now."
"Xiang Hao Ting."
"Hm?" Xiang Hao Ting replied without looking up.
"Xiang Hao Ting, will you officially date me now?"
Xiang Hao Ting almost choked instantly.
"I thought that was already clear to you." Xiang Hao Ting replied. "Yes, I'm dating you now and I love you."
Yu Xi Gu was taken aback by how Xiang Hao Ting said this looking into his eyes directly. He was blushing and speechless. A flustered expression that looked so adorable, Xiang Hao Ting literally couldn't take it anymore.
"Go on a date with me Yu Xi Gu."
"Eh? Wait, give me a minute. I never thought I'd be asked out on a date by you. There's a lot I need to process right now like us dating and you asking me out."
"You need to process it quickly because our date is today."
"Today?!"
"I'll text you the time and place, okay?" Xiang Hao Ting said getting up from his chair.
"Okay, but where are you going?"
"To make arrangements for our date maybe....?" Xiang Hao Ting said nonchalantly.
Yu Xi Gu was so dumbstruck. He had gotten himself a whole boyfriend now who he had no idea could be such a romantic. But it made him feel so happy. Like a whole rush of adrenaline and serotonin together. Yu Xi Gu now had gotten something he loved more than the string theory.
"I'll see you later then. Bye." Xiang Hao Ting left a confused Yu Xi Gu behind who was still dealing with everything that had happened in the past hour.
As soon as Xiang Hao Ting left, he called up Sun Bo Xiang. Of course he needed to tell this to his one and only best friend.
Sun Bo Xiang picked up the call immediately as he saw Xiang Hao Ting's name. He knew Xiang Hao Ting had gone to talk to Yu Xi Gu to end it, but little did he know that Xiang Hao Ting got himself a boyfriend instead.
"So, what happened? Are you fine?"
"What would happen to me?! I'm so happy, Sun Bo Xiang!!"
"Have you finally gone crazy, my friend. I hadn't prepared for this but okay. You can come home now."
"I told him I loved him, Sun Bo Xiang!"
"Yes, I know, I know. It's okay. Just come home alright. I'll call Zhi Gang ge too. Because you aren't sounding very sane right now."
"Why won't you believe me?! I said I'm dating Yu Xi Gu now!"
"Who did you say again? Xiang Hao Ting, you cannot be serious?"
"I completely am serious and sane as well. Also I need your help with something so come down right now. I'm reaching the dorm in 5."
"Wait what?! Yu Xi Gu as in our Yu Xi Gu?!"
"Yes! Do you know anyone else named Yu Xi Gu?!"
"Oh my god, are you for real? What did you say to him?! Is he okay?!"
"Yes he's fine. And he's in love with me."
"Okay, I'll be waiting for you."
"Yes, I'm reaching. Also, call Zhi Gang ge too."
"Okay, I think he needs to know too. I'm hanging up."
"Yep. I'll be there."
This was real. Xiang Hao Ting also needed time to understand everything but right now the only thing he felt was his love for Yu Xi Gu and a feeling that wasn't sadness or bittersweet pain. It was just happiness right now. As he thought, the start of it all was Yu Xi Gu. But he never knew that the end of it all will be Yu Xi Gu as well. Xiang Hao Ting for the first time in a long time opened the photos on his phone. And for the first time in three years he didn't feel any pain looking at those. A smile formed on his face. His eyes teary, he looked at Yu Xi Gu in those photos. He was glad. Really glad he met Yu Xi Gu in the past and met him again after all this time.
'Will you meet me in the park near our university after your dinner's done?'
Xiang Hao Ting texted Yu Xi Gu. Yu Xi Gu almost immediately replied to his text.
'Of course. I'll be there. Though you left me all alone in this cafe so people are staring at me like I said something awful to you.'
'I'll make it up to you okay?'
'You better do.'
