Chapter 4: I Think I Love Him

Yu Xi Gu in high spirits again went to Xiang Hao Ting after his lessons finished in hopes that he could finally meet him after what happened in the morning. As soon as Yu Xi Gu saw him come out of the campus, he rushed to him and almost bumped into him.

"Haha..." Yu Xi Gu awkwardly laughed.
He could see the weird expression of confusion and anger on Xiang Hao Ting's face.

"So...are your lessons done?"

"Hm."

"Oh alright... then that means you do have time right now, yes?"

"No I don't." Xiang Hao Ting coldly answered.

"Ayy don't be like this, okay? It's important to just hang out with friends sometimes." Yu Xi Gu said in efforts of convincing Xiang Hao Ting to go on a "date" with him.

"You are not my friend."

Yu Xi Gu was dumbstruck at how the guy standing in front of him plainly rejected any of his advances.

"Okay then let's do this. As you said, I'm not your friend, which is also true. I don't know anything about you, neither do you know anything about me."

After listening to this Xiang Hao Ting remembered the time when they were the only ones who really knew everything about each other.

"So?" Xiang Hao Ting wasn't going to go along with Yu Xi Gu come what may.

"That's why let's get to know each other better! Don't be so bitter come on, you'll hurt my feelings!"

Xiang Hao Ting had never been able to resist those puppy eyes. Since the past, he would just give in to Yu Xi Gu when he made those big eyes like a lost puppy.

"So? What do you say? Go on a date with me please, won't you??"

"Did you say date?"

"No, no i didn't mean it like that but maybe I did after all. Okay let's say I want to just hang out with you."
Yu Xi Gu was very obviously flustered at that question.

Xiang Hao Ting really questioned his existence in that moment. The thing he was literally most afraid of all this time was happening. He did not want to associate with Yu Xi Gu anymore but Yu Xi Gu wasn't allowing him to do that. It was really painful for Xiang Hao Ting to see him even for a few minutes. In that situation, he didn't want to cry. He didn't want to show his tears to Yu Xi Gu; after all he had endured everything without breaking down since things became like this. But how long could he control his feelings. His eyes became teary and he put his head down. He wasn't able to look at Yu Xi Gu the way he was right now.

A tear rolled down his cheek which was immediately noticed by Yu Xi Gu.

Yu Xi Gu panicked when he saw Xiang Hao Ting cry,
"What- What's wrong? Something happened? Tell me what happened, hm?"

Yu Xi Gu went closer to him, but Xiang Hao Ting quickly stepped back, coming back to his senses.

"No. Um, it's nothing. Just-" Xiang Hao Ting stuttered, his head still down.

"Okay. If you say it's nothing, then it's nothing." Yu Xi Gu didn't want to dwell on it any longer. He figured Xiang Hao Ting will tell him the reason, when the time is right.

"Okay!! So I will take responsibility for you crying and take you out to an unforgettable date!"

"I told you IT. IS. NOT. A. DATE." Xiang Hao Ting said in an annoying tone but a small part of him was literally on the seventh heaven.

As they walked together, Yu Xi Gu matched his steps with Xiang Hao Ting, smiling ear to ear, sneaking glances at the guy beside him who looked so beautiful; a warm light of the sunset falling on his face.

He wondered as he kept staring at Xiang Hao Ting,
'Ah...This is bad. I really love him.'

Yu Xi Gu came to realise his feelings in that moment, but that feeling was somehow familiar. He had known in his heart all along somehow, that he liked Xiang Hao Ting.

"You- Don't look at me like that."

"Hm? Like what~?" Yu Xi Gu teased Xiang Hao Ting, even though he knew exactly how he was looking at him.

"Forget it." Xiang Hao Ting ignored Yu Xi Gu's gaze and just kept walking. He was too tired to even argue with the guy beside him. But, at that very moment, a slight smile was formed by his lips. He was happy.

Of course this wasn't going to go unnoticed by Yu Xi Gu.
He quickly hopped in front of Xiang Hao Ting,
"YOU SMILED! You really did! You look nice when you smile!!"

"Shut up! Who's smiling?! Don't mess with me just because I agreed to go along with your whims and wishes." Xiang Hao Ting tried to hide his smile as well as his embarrassment.

"Yessir. Forgive me, okay~?"

'What a child. He's really like a puppy.'

Xiang Hao Ting secretly admired the person he was with, again after all this time. This is what he had missed. He had missed talking to him. He had missed seeing that smile. He had missed that voice. He had missed walking beside him as the sun went down. He had missed everything that he was experiencing in the moment.

'This is not very bad. Maybe I can keep talking to Yu Xi Gu without letting him know about our past. That's the only one thing I have to do. To never let Yu Xi Gu know about any of the things that happened in the past.'

Xiang Hao Ting came to an understanding in his mind.
