CHAPTER 3: Cynthia Goodsky

I looked at Sylvie, waiting for her to give an opinion on this matter 

'It's fine papa, you know that you can trust her regarding our bond' Sylvie said and then added

' Oh and tell her that I might join the fight if I deem it interesting enough ' she said and gave me a knowing, smug look

' Yes, yes.Everything for my cute little daughter'

' Tsk... I want to fight as well' I thought that I heard Regis say something, but decided to ignore it

" No, Sylvie is my bond" as I said this director gave me another surprised look but before she could say anything I cut her off" she said that if she deemed this fight interesting enough she might join it" I said and the directors' eyes widened in shock. She was well aware that only A or higher ranked beasts could form an equal bond with humans, and that only a selected few mana beasts could communicate with their bonds through telepathy 

" Arthur, are you sure about this? Sylvie is still too young to..." my father tried to stop me but I decided to cut him off

" Don't worry dad, when it comes to mana, Sylvie is even stronger than me" I told him with a wink

At my statement, everyone except the director and Ellie let out a loud gasp

Director gave a questioning look at which I just replied that she will see soon enough

We arrived at the backyard

Sylvie and everyone stayed at the stairs while me and the director took our positions so we can look at each other directly. We were placed in a way that everyone can see whats going on, meaning that non of our backs were turned toward them which minimalizes the chances of them being hit by a stray spell

' Don't worry papa, I will block any stray spells that might come our way' Sylvie said and from the corner of my eyes I could see her puffing out her chest while still being in her fox form 

' What the hell are you even puffing out princess 2.0, you didn't have chest even in the future not to mention now' Regis gave Sylv one of his classic comments and I could feel that Sylvie was getting depressed about it

' Shut up you stupid puppy' she shot back 

Their little argument was cut short by the director Goodsky  

" Don't you want to arm yourself with some weapon at the very least?" she asked with a raised eyebrow

" As it seems that you don't plan on using that wand that is decorating your waist, I won't be taking any weapon into our little demonstration" I said with confidence since I knew that I have to win her trust in order to put my plan into motion, and proving myself as a capable fighter is the first step toward it

She gave me slight smile before signalizing toward others to announce the beginning of this duel

"Let the duel..." dad said before looking at us, we gave him a nod, meaning that we are both ready " BEGIN!"

Just as dad has announced the beginning of the duel I let the mana flow through my body for the first time in a while

Ever since I lost my ability to manipulate mana I was unable to feel my connection with the space and nature around me, but now I have it back and this feeling is...nostalgic

Getting myself out of this thought I slowly let lightning mana flow through my body, in other words, activating [ Thunderclap impulse ] I saw that the world around started slowing down, but I knew that it didn't just simply slow down, my thoughts and reactions were accelerated to normally impossible heights
