WAITING OUTSIDE THE MALL, SAM SIGHED WITH A TAP TO HER FOOT.
"Jesus, where the hell is he?" The Henderson teen glanced at her watch.
"Oh, look." Will pointed through the crowd. "I think that's him." Low and behold, Mike Wheeler finally pulled up to the entrance of the mall.
"You're late." Lucas scolded his friend.
"Sorry." Mike panted.
"Again." The Sinclair teen added on.
"We're gonna miss the opening." Will flung his arms out.
"Yeah, if you guys keep whining about it, let's go!" Mike locked up his bike and rounded to the group. Sam glanced at Max, putting her hands in the back pockets of her shorts.
"If you keep whining about it, nyuh nyuh nyuh." Lucas mocked.
"Just, please stop talking dude." Mike pushed them into the doors of the mall.
"Let me guess, you were busy..." Sam made a kissing noise with a smirk.
"Oh yeah, real mature Sam." Mike rolled his eyes. "I'm surprised you're not sucking face with Steve after last year." Sam scoffed and kicked the back of the boys knee. He tripped, sending a glare her way.
"'Oh, El. I wish we could make out forever and never hang out with any of our friends.'" Lucas teased.
"Lucas, stop." Max grumbled while Will chuckled.
"Will thinks it's funny." The Sinclair boy protested.
"Because it is." Will chuckled.
"Oh yeah, it's so funny that I want to spend romantic time with my girlfriend." Mike rolled his eyes. Lucas draped his arm over Max's shoulders.
"I'm spending romantic time with my girlfriend." He reminded them.

Pushing through the crowd, the party made their way downstairs.
"Hey, watch it!" A girl scoffed.
"Yeah, watch it nerd!" Erica mocked.
"Isn't it past your bedtime?" Lucas retorted.
"Isn't it time you died?" Erica didn't miss a beat.
"Psycho." The Sinclair boy grumbled.
"Butthead!" His little sister yelled back.
"Mole rat!"
"Fart face!"
Lucas stuck his tongue out at the girl. Max grabbed his arm.
"Oh, now that was mature." The redhead scoffed at him.
They jogged into Scoops Ahoy and Mike repeatedly hit the bell.
"Hey, dingus, you're children are here." Robin Buckley yelled, not breaking eye contact. Steve threw open the window behind the counter with a sigh.
"Again, seriously?" The Harrington man rolled his eyes. Mike hit the bell again.
"I'll come by tomorrow, okay? Love you Robin!" Sam blew the young woman a kiss as she pushed the kids through the back of the shop.
Steve opened the back door, allowing the kids to get through. "Come on, come on! I swear if anyone hears about this-"
"We're dead." The party finished for him.
"Nice shorts Harrington." Sam sent him a wink. He sent her a sarcastic smile.
"Yeah, you too Henderson." The Harrington teen glanced her up and down. "They really show you off." Sam quirked her eyebrow, sending him both her middle fingers and he stepped back into the ice cream parlor.
"My point exactly." Mike piped in, glancing back at the blonde.

Breaking into the theater, the party rushed into the correct room and found a seat. Mike and Will sat in one row while Sam, Max, and Lucas sat in the one in front of them.
"See Lucas, we made it." The Wheeler boy told his friend pointedly.
"We missed the previews." Lucas countered childishly.
"We still made it, Fart Face." Max chuckled at him, grabbing the snacks from Will.
However, just as the movie was to start, the projector went out. Everyone in the theater groaned and yelled out.
Little did they know that the entire town of Hawkins, Indiana was thrown into short blackout.  Soon enough, the movie sputtered back to life. The people cheered and clapped before falling into silence.

TODAY WAS THE BIG DAY. Dustin was finally back home. After sneaking the party into the house, Sam made sure everything was ready for the surprise.
When Dustin sat down, El began her magic, causing the Henderson boys toys to go haywire and move on their own. Just like they planed, Dustin began following the toys down the hall and into the main rooms of the house.
Hiding behind a wall, Sam watched as Dustin slowly walked into the living room. Sending the kids a thumbs up, Mike turned to El.
"Now." He whispered causing the girl to open her eyes. The ruckus from the toys stopped abruptly, and the group tiptoed out from behind the wall.
With a sign ready and everything, the group counted down before cheering and welcoming their friend home. Dustin, however, jumped up screaming and sprayed Lucas in the face with his hair spray.

Rinsing the Sinclair boys eyes in the sink was proving to be more tedious than expected. Dustin must have gotten him good with the cosmetic attack.
"How's it going Max?" Sam called from the pantry.
"He's an idiot." The Mayfield girl called back. Sam sighed, walking back to the sink.
"So, no improvements?" She asked rhetorically. Suddenly, the rest of the party walked by and out the door. "Hey, where are you asshats going?" Sam yelled after them.
"To talk to Dustin's girlfriend." Will shrugged.
"Girlfriend?" They repeated before running after them.

FINISHING UP THE LAST ORDER, STEVE BEGAN WORKING HIS CHARM. "Alrighty, one scoop of chocolate. That's a buck twenty five." He took the money from the girl on the other side of the counter, trying to find a topic of conversation.
"Oh, Purdue?" He read her shirt. "Fancy."
"Yeah, I'm excited." She chuckled.
"Yeah, you know, I considered it." Steve lied. "Purdue, but then I was like, you know what? I really think that I need some real life experience, you know? Before I hit college, see what if feels like. Kinda like, uh, I don't know, see what it's like to earn a working man's wage, you know? Uh..." The register beeped loudly. "Oh, sorry. Anyway, I think that's like, really important."
"Yeah, totally." The girl nodded along.
"Yeah, anyway, this was, like, so fun." Steve chuckled. "We should kinda like, you know, I don't know, maybe hang out this weekend or-" He passed her the change aggressively and it fell to the counter loudly. "Oh, sorry about that. Uh...I don't know. Maybe next weekend or-"
"Yeah, I'm busy." The girl laughed.
"Oh, that's cool, I'm...I'm working here next weekend, so...the following weekend is better for me." Harrington pushed.
"Uh, no. Sorry, I can't." The girl smiled tightly.
"Okay, thanks." Her friend rolled her eyes as they turned and laughed.
"I...This is my first day here." Steve continued before sighing.
"And another one bites the dust." Robin slid out from behind the window. "You are oh-for-six, Popeye." She made another tally mark on her whiteboard.
"Yeah. Yeah, I can count." Steve grumbled.
"You know that means you suck." Robin reminded, pointing out the label above the tallies.
"Yeah, I can read too." Steve rolled his eyes.
"Since when?" The Buckley girl didn't miss a beat.
"It's this stupid hat, I am telling you." The young man walked to the counter, leaning on it slightly. "It is totally blowing my best feature."
"Yeah, company policy is a real drag." Robin pouted. "You know, it's a crazy idea, but have you considered...telling the truth?"
"Oh you mean, that I couldn't even get into Tech and my douchebag dad is trying to teach me a lesson, I make three bucks an hour, and I have no future? That truth?" Steve reminded the girl.
"Or that your in love with Sam." She teased with a knowing smirk.
"I am not-" Steve started.
"Hey, 12 o'clock." Robin cut him off, pointing over his shoulder.
"Oh, shit. Oh, shit. Okay, uh...I'm going in. Okay? And you know what?" Steve ripped the hat off his head and tossed it over Robins shoulder. "Screw company policy."
"Oh my God. You're a whole new man." The Buckley woman mocked.
"Right? Oh." He shimmied before turning around. "Ahoy, ladies! Didn't see you there. Would you guys like to set sail on this ocean of flavor with me? I'll be your captain. I'm Steve Harrington. Can I get you guys a little taste of Cherries Jubilee? No? Anybody? Banana boat? Four people, four spoons?"
Robin scoffed, turning away and adding yet another tally mark.
