Scarlett stood outside and glanced nervously down the street. The door was unlocked when she turned the knob. Her suitcase crept behind her. The drapes were drawn shut. "Malcolm?" She called shutting the door behind her. The TV was off and she couldn't even hear rustling in the kitchen.
She didn't know who else to turn to. Her own mother was busying her calls. And even if the boy down the street was a little hard on her, he was there and he cared in his own perverse way. "I was wondering if I could crash here for a bit?" She glanced at her phone. He hadn't returned her calls or texts. "I know things aren't exactly rosy between us, but I need someone right now. As tacky as that sounds." She shoved her phone into her pants pocket.
"Surprised to see you here," A voice rumbled.
She yelped jerking around, a trembling hand on her chest. "Lucas, Jesus, what the fuck are you doing here?"
"I live here, at least until my Mom's new boyfriend lets me back into the house."
"Shit, at least put some clothes on," Her hand shot up to her eyes.
He chuckled shaking his head. "You act like you've never seen a penis before." He rested his hands on his hips. "You have, haven't you?"
She reached blindly for anything. Her fingers grazed the throw pillows, she tossed one at him. He caught it with one arm. "I have, I just don't appreciate seeing my boyfriend's best friend's penis."
He rolled his eyes. "I'll go put something on to make my new roommate more... comfortable."
Before she could respond, Lucas vanished down a narrow hall.
Her phone bleeped. A text.
