mikes pov

it's been about a hour since El dragged Max to the backyard, and since about 100 other people have entered my house.

I haven't seen El since, and I'm 3 shots in looking for her.

Dustin is already hammered, how? Who knows.

After about 5 minutes of pushing through the crowd I find her. She is alone in a corner talking Lucas, with a genuine smile this time. They are both laughing.

What the fuck happened earlier.
You can tell she is drunk.

I walk up to them.
"Hey Lucas, El. Where did Max go?" I ask. El shrugs her shoulders and Lucas points to the house.

We talked for a few more minutes until Lucas went to go find Max.

"What happened?" I turn to El.
"It doesn't matter! Just dance!" She says grabbing me and dragging me off the grass to the concrete by the pool.

'Last friday Night' by Katy Perry plays as she jumps up and down grabbing my hands.

Her hands are shaking really bad.
Maybe it's because all the alcohol or maybe she's just cold.

I ignore it and dance with her for a bit.

We hear the music stop and Dustin walk up on the little platform, a make due stage if you will.
My birthday gift for El is a song.
-
"What do you want for you birthday El?" I ask her as we are sitting on the steps of her house.

"Nothing." She responded.

"Oh come on, what do you want."
I push.

"I really don't know Mike." She is tired.
"Something meaningful." She adds after a moment of silence.

"Meaningful?" I question.

"You sing and play guitar, right? Make me something." She laughs.

She's probably joking, but hey, she asked.
-
"Ahem! Guys! Stop and listen!" Dustin days from the Microphone.

"I have to go." I whisper to El.
She just nods her head in confusion.

By this point everyone in squished into my backyard, wondering why Dustin Henderson is currently screaming into a mic.

I walk up and grab the mic.
"Apparently Mike is now taking over." He sputters.

"Hey guys, first off Happy birthday to El, my girlfriend and Will, a good buddy!" I speak while picking up my guitar.

The crowd claps for a few second as El and Will are in the front row.

"So when I asked El what she wanted for her birthday she told me a song, and I'm not going to lie a I was a little dumb founded but here I am getting ready to sing her a song!" I joked.

There were a few reactions throughout the crowd as millie chuckled with a bright, beautiful smile on her face.

"So this song is called Matilda, i wrote it for her." I continued, i was nervous I'm not going to lie, but I started strumming.

*all lyrics belong to HS*

You were riding your bike to the sound of "It's No Big Deal"
And you're trying to lift off the ground on those old two wheels
Nothing 'bout the way that you were treated ever seemed especially alarming 'til now
So you tie up your hair and you smile like it's no big deal

The crowd was swaying, and so was El, i think she was trying to focus more on the lyrics more so she could remember them tomorrow.

You can let it go
You can throw a party full of everyone you know
And not invite your family 'cause they never showed you love
You don't have to be sorry for leaving and growing up, mmh
Matilda, you talk of the pain like it's all alright
But I know that you feel like a piece of you's dead insidе
You showed me a power that is strong enough to bring sun to the darkest days
It's none of my business, but it's just been on my mind

She has a look on her face, like she is looking for someone.
She is huddled up to Will as he is just smiling looking at me and clapping along to the music as everyone else is.

You can let it go
You can throw a party full of everyone you know
And not invite your family 'cause they never showed you love
You don't have to be sorry for leaving and growing up
You can see the world, following the seasons
Anywhere you go, you don't need a reason
'Cause they never showed you love
You don't have to be sorry for doing it on your own

She is still looking around, the song is almost over. What is wrong? I'm getting concerned and I start looking for the persons he is looking for too.
Every few seconds she would looks back up at me and smile but go back to looking at someone else for a few seconds.

You're just in time, make your tea and your toast
You framed all your posters and dyed your clothes, ooh
You don't have to go
You don't have to go home
Oh, there's a long way to go
I don't believe that time will change your mind
In other words, I know
They won't hurt you anymore
As long as you can let them go

She finally finds who she is looking for, im assuming at least because she has now almost gone weak in the knees by the looks of it.

She has now poked Will and started pointing to someone.

You can let it go
You can throw a party full of everyone you know
You can start a family who will always show you love
You don't have to be sorry for doing it on your own

Will has had a bad reaction to who she is pointed to, im now focused on trying to find who she is pointing to.

You can let it go
You can throw a party full of everyone you know
You can start a family who will always show you love
You don't have to be sorry, no.

As I end the song I see him, it has to be who she was pointing too.
