Lasey P.O.V

"Nah we were about to go to the beach I should find out if she wants to join but I don't want to wake her.."I hear Sam say as I start waking up

"Oh you're awake morning sleepy."She says smiling at me.

“Don't tell me you're a morning person."I ask questionably

"Nah I helped Zoe pack and clean .Oh yeah she said to tell you she left you cab fare if you wanted to go home earlier ."Sam says taking out the cash and putting it on the table

"Okay hold on Zoey just left me here alone?"I ask looking around the room for traces of her stuff .But nothing .She’d gone .

"Well maybe you know she had to get home urgently or something .Besides I'm still here right?And I heard from a few people...okay two people I'm not that bad to be around..Well that was my parents but hey parent never lie right?"She says animated in her story .

Laughing at her being silly I jump up and nod my head "Yeah maybe I will give you one chance to entertain me otherwise I am out of here."I say wiping my hair

"Oh look who is too good to be true now."she says wiping her short hair pouting and turning away dramatically .

"Hahaha no!!"I say laughing falling back down on the bed .

I know I will enjoy the day .I am just so glad I met Sam  .What a character.


At the beach

"Do you think I should call her?"I ask Sam

Playing with the sand she nods her head "Yeah ask that butt head why she isn't here .Tell her we miss her ."Sam says sweetly tossing rocks into the ocean

Smiling I take out my phone and dial Zoey feeling nervous to hear her voice after last night .Which in hindsight is silly because we were both a little drunk and were vulnerable .

It's not like it meant anything ..to her.

"Hey you have reached my voicemail box congrats .I will call you back as soon as I get to my phone.Later."Her animated voice says

"Voicemail."I say to Sam

"I'm sure there is a good explanation to why she isn't answering .Don't stress ."

"So I wanted to ask you about that.Are you guys.."

"Oh...OH!No no no we aren't , just friends that's all."I say repeating that last part in my head...JUST FRIENDS THAT'S ALL.

"Oh cuz it seemed like you guys were kind of feeling each other ."She asks curiously

"I don't know I guess it's just because I care about her .I mean we haven't been friends for very long but she is the closest person I have ever had .I just know there is more to her than what she puts on for the world to see."I say stopping myself before I get to carried away .

I look at Sam and notice she is frowning at me but smiles nodding"Zoey is really lucky to have you be there for her Lasey .Don't forget that ."She says standing holding her hand out to me .

Grabbing her hand she pulls me up and starts walking to the bonfire where everyone is sitting

"Where are you going?"I ask still standing on the same spot.

"Come on they won't bite ."she says waving me over .

Biting would be better.

"Hey Dina how you doing ?"She says to a cute blonde girl and I sit next to her feeling a little left out .

"Aww Sammy it's so good to see you , I am so good me and Beth are still together and you how are you doing how is the music?"She asks Sam .

This girl is talking about a relationship yet the way she and Sam are talking it seems she has a lot of emotion towards Sam as well .

"Music is great just weddings for now but maybe someday .I'm a rookie you know .Im glad for you and Beth you guys are perfect .I hope to find someone like that one day ."She says pouring herself a drink and pouring me a drink.

They continue talking and I start joining in the conversation and find it quite easy to relate to the things they are talking about .Minutes turn into hours and night time comes around and me and Sam are walking on the beach joking around about the dumbest stuff acting a fool being goofy.

"No no you hang up first..and I was like ok.And I hang up.To be fair though she was crazy.Really crazy ."Sam says talking about her first girlfriend

"She wasn't crazy Sam she was just crazy for you ."

"Mm that doesn't happen .Originally girls fall for me because I am easy going and well relatable .Yet sooner or later it wears off and they move on .Its crazy I have never been inlove ever." she says staring up at the sky .Not sad just intrigued

"Me neither but that's okay because it's exciting .You know like waiting and imagining and wondering who she will be or how she will make you fall inlove with her."I say feeling butterflies in my tummy at the thought.

"Yeah you're completely right .Its just I look at Zoe and I'm like too much of a softy to do what she does with girls and I guess I care too much .She always used to tell me how girls walk over me ."she says letting her shoulders rise and fall

"Why do they walk over you ?I mean you are very attractive and charming I don't get it .Why would you let them ."I ask

"Hanging around Zoey they kind of figure I am also like that so it's hard to get a proper girl .Like Dina at the bonfire ,we used to date for about 4 months but she cheated on me with her current fiancé Beth .I forgave her and now talk to her regularly to ask how they are and to wish them well. "she says

Staring at her in disbelief she laughs and grows quite as I still stare at her not saying anything.

"Nobody is that nice."I say

"Some people call it stupidity ."she says sticking out her tongue .

"Come on I will race you back !"she says jolting away running forward

"Hey!no fair!"I say running after her as fast as I can until she looks back and waits for me to catch up.

"Want a ride?"she says grinning(Not a Zoey grin.)

"Wha..."

She picks me up and carries me on her back running fast holding me tight and I feel a smile creep onto my lips as the wind blows through my hair and I close my eyes...
And then there butterflies..

Back at the house..

"So I'm going to say goodnight ."she says combing her hair with her fingers smiling sweetly at me

"Okay well goodnight Sam.."I say feeling a little awkward..should I hug her?Handshake?I don't know .

Rolling her eyes she pulls me in and gives me a friendly hug maybe two seconds too long but overall just a normal hug.

"You should try calling Zoey again."she says walking out of the room .

Zoey..I haven't heard from her once today .She was probably busy or didn't care to contact me.Still it doesn't matter well it does but not as much as I thought I had a great day and was brave for the first time in a long while.


Morning..Drive back home with Sam

"I told you it's fine I don't mind driving you home."Sam says to me as I argue with her to only take me halfway

"It's totally out of your way you would be driving two hours extra to get home."I say feeling guiltier by the minute

"God woman I said I want to just let me do something nice for you."She says eyeing me as if to make sure I don't continue fighting against it.

"Well fine ."I say crossing my arms staring out the window

"So did you enjoy your weekend?"She asks

"Very very much and I think I made a good friend."I say nudging Sam

"Me too."she says smiling


"Oh here it is the house at the end ."I say as we pull into our street

"Gee you and Zoe live close to each other maybe two or three blocks from each other."

"Did she answer last night?"

And for some reason I had an urge to act like I didn't care.

"I didn't call.."I say flatly but feel a pang in my heart

"Oh.."she says surprised

"Okay well here we are."I say jumping out of her car

I see my dad running towards us and hug me tightly spinning me in circles as I go red all over feeling completely embarrassed by my  over protective father as Sam looks at me very amused

"Honey you are home I missed you so much I even slept in your room last night."he says making me blush even more .

"Dad..this is my friend Sam."I say trying to save myself a little dignity .

He turn around and shakes Her hand introducing himself

"Would you like to come in for lunch Sam?"My dad ask and hugs my further.

"I really wouldn't want to impose sir."she says

"Nonsense I'm sure Lase would like more company ."He say gesturing Sam inside

"Is BLT fine?"he asks walking into the kitchen

"Yes that would be great."

"Come on let's go wait in the living room ."I say walking away

Sitting on the sofa I realize that Sam and I probably won't see each other often seeing as she living 2 hours away and has her own friends as well ,but I can't not ever see her again I feel like we could be really good friends maybe even more in the future.

"So when will I see you again?"she asks reading my mind

"I don't know .."I say biting my lip hoping I didn't sound like I didn't want to see her again.

"Do you want to see me again."she asks nervously

"Of course I do."I say smiling at her staring into her eyes feeling sad that she is almost leaving.

"Food is ready."my dad yells calling us to the dining room

Sitting around the table listening to my dad and Sam talk about golf seems boring but actually was very entertaining watching them get along so well.She was right she really can get along with anyone .Amazingly .

" When Laseys mom was still here she would watch golf with me all the time without one complaint and even get into it ,enjoying it .Which was completely out of her character ."

"Yeah I know my mom has recently started joining my dads bowling team but its so embarrassing for my father because my mom is beating him every week with more .It has gotten to the point where my dad sneaks out for extra training sessions."

"Mans gotta do what a mans gotta do."My dad says

"Well I think it is time for me to go I'm sure my parents are going crazy.Thank you very much sir."she says shaking his hand

"No problem Sam come visit soon okay."

"Hun would you walk Sam  out ?"

"Sure dad."I say

We walk to her car in silence not really sure what to say

"So you got my number.."I say

"Yeah and you have mine."she says grinning

"Will you let me know when your at home ?"I ask

Why did i ask that?

"Sure."she says smiling kissing me on the cheek and climbing into her car.

Feeling the tingle on my cheek I watch her drive away waving goodbye and touch my cheek when she is out of sight.

Definitely worth it.

"Oh yeah Hun your friend Zoey was here yesterday and told me to give you this."he says walking to the kitchen and opening a cabinet taking out a letter

"A letter?"I ask

"Yes she said it is very important."

Taking the letter I kiss my dad running into my room.

Dear Lase
I know you might think of me as a jackass for leaving the way I did .
I need to talk to you .
Soon.
I hope you enjoyed your weekend and tell me all about it .
Lase I didn't want to leave.
Also I can't really talk at the moment but I will see you at school and come to your house afterward.
Missed you this weekend.
Don't tell anyone or ill kill you.
Kidding...
