CHAPTER FORTY-FOUR:

44: ~Marina's Pov~

I woke up in a terribly alarming jovial mood because of what happened yesterday. Kiara's horn blared through my window from down the driveway while I was applying my mascara– yeah Jakob is still suspended– I rushed my lip gloss application and after a last look at my OOTD (grey plaid skirt, black cropped tee and doc martins), I kissed Topaz goodbye and dashed downstairs and out the main doors.

I waved her with a massive smile plastered on my phiz as I jogged to the passenger seat's door and hopped in.

"Well someone is in a cheery mood today, spill the secret!" Kiara gushed as she started driving.

"Just stay tuned we might be looking at a fairytale here."

"Ouuu... Then it's about Darnell?"

I just smiled innocently and looked away.

"I'll catch you later Ellie!" I said to Daneley impatiently as I scurried towards Darnell.

Daneley muttered something after me but I was in my head staring at Darnell– he looked so good in jeans– so I didn't pay attention to her.

"Heyyy, fancy seeing you here." I beamed and made to hug him.

His reaction shocked my life.

Darnell really pulled my hands away and gave me a weird look.

"Hey, what's all the fuzz about?" He asked with a puzzled expression.

Isn't this the same boy that was just kissing me some hours ago like his life solely depended on it? Or did I imagine the whole session?

Suddenly a random brunette girl shrieked from around the corner, ran towards us and placed her flirty hands around Darnell's neck, perked up and kissed his cheek.

"Hey babe!" She cooed.

I blinked.

"Uhm excuse me?"

The girl looked between us in confusion while I kept looking at Darnell for an explanation, whose eyes were blank and void.

"Who is she?" The brunette girl eyed me.

He made a point of placing his hand around her shoulder while holding my gaze and said, "No one."

Excuse me?

"Gimme a sec Sophie, I'll be right behind you." He dismissed the brunette with a wink.

Eww.

"Is this a joke?" My body was already getting hot.

Darnell leaned threateningly close, his hot breath was against my ear as he whispered, "Everyone likes a good catch. Remember MJ, we are all playing games."

And he winked one last time before skidding away with his fling.

I felt like I was choking, lmfao, he really repeated my own words back to me. What is this? Karma?

He doesn't do feelings MJ, he does flings. My subconscious reminded me.

I didn't even know how or what to feel. In a weird way it feels like this was highly expected, like a part of me was expecting this to happen and now that it has... It is what it is? In split seconds memories of times we spent together began playing one after another clouding my thoughts until I realized I was still standing at the same spot he left me– completely zoned out.
