Before we begin this story,
There's a message I must say,
About my life as an idol,
And how I spent each day.

In a world of wealth and glamour,
Where they crave to know your name,
Lies a secret deep below,
Beyond the status of such fame.

I trained to be perfection,
For the greatness that I'd gain,
And pushed myself too hard,
Despite the anguish and the pain.

For I was told it's everlasting,
The sound of their applause,
In those picture perfect moments,
Where they fail to see your flaws.

Yet hidden in the corners,
In the search for silver linings,
Lay chaos in the depths,
That seemed to dodge defining.

From obsessive fans at concerts,
To rehearsing the same tune,
It became an endless cycle,
With smiles gone too soon.

I lost myself along the way,
Through my desire for reputation,
A longing and a need,
To hear my songs on every station.

Each day would fade away,
Intertwined with lies and scandal,
Of collegues who would struggle,
For fame was more than they could handle.

But my life as an idol,
Became much less a chore,
When I met another member,
Who made it mean much more.

I wanted my happy ending,
And now she was my chance,
As she crawled into my heart,
With barely just a glance.

The problem was that others,
They clearly felt the same,
Transfixed by her beauty,
That was heightened by her fame.

You see she was a dancer,
So elegant, devine,
With a sweet and tender nature,
That I longed to soon make mine.

So I observed her from the shadows,
As she danced a sort of art,
And smiled for the cameras,
As we merely played our part.

But jealousy grew rampant,
Like a storm that raged the sea,
Guided by our stardom,
That consumed within me.

I wished to be her hero,
That we'd one day soon be freed,
Only to find myself a villain,
Lost to time and greed.

And to this day I still recall,
The words that she would speak,
How those happy, hopeful memories,
Suddenly turned so dark and bleak.

She spat her words like venom,
For I was her fallen star.
"You deserve to live forever,
As the monster that you are!"

But that was just behind the scenes,
How different if did seem,
As though each day I was trapped,
Between reality and dream.

Still we climbed the ladder slowly,
In our pursuit to pure elation,
With record topping charts,
To become an instant world sensation.

And while standing at the top,
I reflected on our past,
Bewildered by the thought,
That our love would always last.

For in my search to be an idol,
It was rare to stop and think,
How my life had quickly changed,
And it started with Blackpink...
