-Amira's pov-

I quickly realise all eyes are on us.

He just called me Princesa in front of everyone.

He literally screamed it-

And then he hugged me.

Shoot.

What if his Abuela saw!?

She'd probably forbid we hang out since she really likes Erika!

No, no she's smart enough to not jump to conclusions.

I think...

ARGH.

"Princesa, calm down," I notice Camilo softly gripping my forearms, seeing as I started hyperventilating.

'But everyone's looking Camilo!' I assume he's already seen it, as the usually bustling atmosphere of the townsquare is now strangely silent.

'DON'T THEY HAVE ANYTHING BETTER TO STARE AT!?' I start to get frustrated.

'Yes, I know, I don't care,' his facial expression full of determination, resolute.

'You SHOULD.'

He takes my hand, 'Well, I don't, but if you're uncomfortable we can leave?'

'...Yes, yeah let's go, please," I squeeze his hand, letting him walk me out of the bombarded region of town and out in the fields.

"Sorry about that, I just saw you and really felt like hugging you. That... happens... a lot," he scratches the back of his neck, awkwardly pulling his hand off of mine as he takes a seat on the grass.

"Is that so?" I sit beside him.

"Mhm."

I take around five minutes to appreciate the serene moment, before speaking again, "How's things with your Abuela going?"

"Good, yeah," he shrugs casually.

"No, I meant, with Erika. Have you told her about the Erika thing?"

"Not yet, I'm sorry I was going to tell her tonigh-"

"Camilo, there's nothing to be sorry for. Like, it's your future, man," I scoffed playfully.

"As much as I love chilling here with you, I think we should get back to town. Don't you have an event to attend?" I say in an exaggerated voice while standing up.

"Suppose so, can you come? Abuela is probably going to make me hang out with Erika the whole time and I don't want to be alone with herrr," he whines.

I think back to the events from yesterday, remembering what happened with Erika. I wince, part of me missing our friendship.

"Sorry Milo, remember I'm not on her good side right now, I'm afraid you'll have to do this on your own," I press the back of my hand to my forehead dramatically, emphasising the urgency of the situation.

"Damn it, but you're still going right?"

"I guess, I'll just protect you from afar."

"How?"

"I'll stalk- I meant spy on you guys and if she tries anything I'll like, kick her, I don't know?" I wasn't even sure what I had in mind.

"You'll kick her?" He raises an eyebrow at me, looking sceptical.

"Probably not, I'll grab Dolores or someone okay? I really can't do much, I'm a random townsperson."

"Alright then, let's goooo."

(Timeskip, so Amira is entering the party)

I'm greeted by the one and only...

Mirabel Madrigal.

Honestly I've always thought she was really pretty, not in a crush type of way. Just a girl thing.

*GASP*

Her eyes widened at me, looking me straight in the eye. I just hold her stare, not really knowing what to do or say. The people who were entering behind me are now being greeted by Bruno Madrugal, who doesn't seem to be enjoying himself all that much.

This is a whole lotta eye contact and I am not loving it.

The second I take a quick glance to the side, she yells, "YOU'RE THAT PRETTY GIRL I SAW IN TOWNSQUARE TODAY WITH MY PRIMO!" She's oddly excited about it.

Before I can even respond, she snatches my hand and pulls me inside. We manoeuvred through the crowd of moving people, until we reach a secluded table around the corner of the room.

"So how do you know Camilo?" She leans her elbows on the wooden table, sitting her head in her palms.

I start freaking out, not knowing how to approach this. I decide to just keep calm and play it cool.
"Met him at school." I'm not sure why she didn't know that, she should've seen me hanging out with his group before. Honestly though I'm just happy she didn't mention the fight between him and Andres.

'Where are you!?' I hear Camilo whispered shouting for no good reason.

'I'm talking to your cousin Mirabel, alright?'

'Okay, yeah, you do that.'

I quickly turn my attention back to the girl in front of me. I just try to change the subject first, Camilo told me she has a short attention span.

"So, good to see Bruno out and greeting people," I chuckle nervously.

"Oh, yeah I sort of forced him to. I mean, his only social interaction for ten years had been his rats, if they even count," she rolls her eyes and giggles.

"You're really pretty," I blurt out in a friendly manner, just something that girls do, compliment each other.

"NO WAY! Cuz I thought you were pretty!" A wide smile grow so her face.

"Seriously? You're so sweet," I grin.

"Do you want to be my friend? I don't really have many and Mama says I should at least try to make a couple."

"Hell yeah, I've heard a lot about you. And seen you around town obviou-"

"ATTENTION, PLEASE " I'm cut off by Alma's booming voice. Surprisingly loud for an elderly woman. Everyone immediately goes quiet, gathering around to listen to her.

"I'd like to announce that this is an engagement party! For my dear nieto Camilo, and his fiancé Erika!"

"WHAT!?"
